  1. I just double checked and the deadline apparently varies by state AND can vary by college, so I'm sure you're fine. Especially if that's what the Ass. Director told you. You can check deadlines here https://fafsa.ed.gov/deadlines.htm#
  2. Yeah that would be very hard to pass up, and congrats! I'm still waiting to hear from one program, and otherwise have a potential year-long funded fellowship abroad that I'm also pursuing. Eventually I may have to make the hard decision of either going to GWU and hoping it works out financially (my anxiety spikes just thinking about it), potentially going to the other program (and weighing a PhD v. DrPH), or taking the possibly once-in-a-lifetime fellowship opportunity and reapplying for doctoral programs in a year or two. I'm tired, as I'm sure we all are at this point.
  3. I wasn't selected either, but I'm trying to see what else I can find through the department, the Institute, or on campus. It isn't ideal but I'm going to see what comes along. I'm hopeful something will work out or that once I'm in the program, I'll secure a research position. I haven't accepted my admission yet though, because this does make me nervous, and I potentially have other options elsewhere. I just really like their program (sigh). Will you still try and attend without guaranteed funding for the fall semester?
  4. I haven't gotten any sort of notice yet. I completed my FAFSA just before it was due. I'm trying to avoid loans at all costs, and hope to find some sort of position with the university as I plan to leave my current employer and will need to relocate to the DMV area. University employees qualify for tuition remission - research personnel qualify the 1st semester coinciding or following the appointment date while staff have to wait 180 days (!) to qualify. Not sure what your situation is like but maybe this is an option you can consider as well?
  5. Yeah I think this is for DrPH candidates. For the PhD in CFH, we interviewed 2/2 and were told they had an internal decision deadline of 2/15. We received an email on that date saying it would be a few weeks before we would hear, but I wasn't necessarily expecting 4 weeks later. Curious about what's going on...
  6. Still nothing. I'm going to email them tomorrow and see if there's any news.
  7. I'm still waiting to hear from them re: PhD decisions as well. Was really expecting to have heard something weeks ago (interviews were Feb. 2nd). I emailed the academic services administrator for the CFH dept. early last week and she said they were in the final steps of decisions. Hoping we hear soon.
  8. That's really a bummer, as I really love their program. Hopefully we hear more, but in the meantime I'm hoping for another funded offer to come through :/.
  9. I also got into GWU's DrPH program in Health Behavior, but no word on funding. I emailed the assoc. director of assistantships and received a disheartening reply..."There are some assistantships and fellowships that are awarded by faculty during the admissions process. At this time you have been admitted to the program but funding has not been offered. Eligible students could pursue loan funding as an option." I'm not sure if there's some sort of implication here that funding could be offered, at some point? Hesitant to get my hopes up. I'm waiting to hear back from the Director and hoping she'll have more information. I really doubt I would go if no funding or assistantships were available or offered - not sure how I would finance it aside from loans and I have no real interest in adding to my student debt...
  10. Anyone admitted into GWU's DrPH program and have any additional information on funding? I received my admission for the DrPH in Health Behavior (very excited) but am very nervous about funding opportunities, as nothing was mentioned in my letter. I've reached out to the Program Director and the graduate assistant to find out more. The assistant said that some funding packages were sent with letters, but that additional funding may become available as department faculty get approved for different research projects. Does anyone know if most DrPH students in the program end up with some sort of funding package or tuition coverage via assistantships? Thanks in advance!
