  1. I interviewed and haven't heard back. I am getting pretty worried! If anyone has heard please let us know.
  2. I am struggling with a similar decision and it’s definitely keeping me up at night! Since most people on here are saying to not go into debt, I thought I would share the flip side I have heard from several different artists who got their MFAs from middle/lower tier programs for free. They told me to really evaluate what I want out of the program because if it IS to be an artist (not choosing teaching out of scarcity mind set/stability) then the connections really do help you at the top schools. Of course some people who go to Yale end up working at a restaurant and creating and some people who dont ever get their MFA can support themselves with their work. Looking at the success of the recent alumni and location (which is important!) can be really helpful to see if it’s worth it for you. Or maybe speaking with someone who has loans and went to a top 3 school...? I have no idea what to do either...I guess I’m just sharing what I have heard from most of the grads I’ve spoken to. Overall evaluating your true goals for getting an MFA is helpful in making a decision.
  3. I did my interview about a month ago and they let me know one and a half weeks after that. Best of luck to you!
  4. Have you heard back from Boston University already?
  5. Me too on both accounts! Are you from the US or UK? I really love RCA but am struggling so much with how I will find the funding as an international student. It would have to mean a significant amount of loans. Anyway, it is nice to be able to connect with someone in a similar spot as me! It is all very overwhelming but exciting at the same time.
  6. I was accepted to RCA Painting program several days ago. The interview was really wonderful and the faculty seemed intelligent and kind (I am sorry about the sculpture ones ?). Now I am rushing around trying to figure out how the heck to pay for my dream program. Have you found any good funding for US studying in UK? Besides the Marshall because I graduated from undergrad outside of their cutoff. I don't think going into major debt for an art degree is the smartest thing....but man I am tempted.
  7. Depending on the school they might have information dedicated to that question on their website. Or you can look at private scholarship opportunities for international students or from UK. I am similarly concerned about the funding for international students coming to the UK! I have an interview with RCA and I don't think they offer any money to international students. I'm searching all over for private funding. Any tips appreciated.
  8. Columbia asks for a Personal Statement that is less than 500 words. Will they disqualify me if I am 90 words over?! My goodness this whole process is stressful. I hope you are all coping better than me
  9. I am working on my MFA painting application to Alfred University. Their website doesn't have a lot of info about the admissions process and the slideroom asks for an artist statement rather than a statement of purpose. Should I treat it as the same thing....including why I want to go for MFA and why their school? Or just send in my straight up short and sweet artist statement. Has anyone applied here? Thanks!
