  1. I was told I would be an excellent candidate for NYU MA in Bioethics (in my NYU rejection email) and they offered that I could apply for free, I've heard in the past that the NYU MA program doesn't receive much time or resources from the department. Is it still worthwhile to consider applying?
  2. Can anyone speak to how to interpret having not heard back yet? Are schools more likely to be taking their sweet time with acceptances or putting off sending out rejection emails?
  3. On the job market, I tend to think appearance is going to be a large part of it. The truth is that being at a top PGR program is a good look, regardless of whether it matches up with actual quality or not. I looked for good faculty at Leiter-ific schools, I didn't let the ratings control my entire decision-making but I let it place limits on it.
  4. Hi Everybody, My primary interest is metaethics, and especially some issues about the relationship between moral psychology and moral metaphysics (specifically, the relationship between the two). I also really like early modern philosophy, and I've pursued in-depth work on Locke and Leibniz through an undergraduate research award and a reading course. I'm also applying to a bunch of schools for mathematical biology (I have two degrees, Hons Biology and Mathematics, and Philosophy). I generally have felt more inclined to philosophy, but recently that has changed and I'm more comfortable with the idea of myself as a mathematical biologist - I ended up applying to far fewer philosophy schools than I planned.
  5. I have not followed closely any of the major trends, I have a mild interest and some readings done in Grounding (gasp - I actually think the best way to cash out Constructivism in metaethics is as a grounding thesis), Non-naturalist Normative Realism (although I am certainly not one of them, I think Shafer-Landau, Enoch, and Cuneo are some of my favourite philosophers), Neo-Pragmatism, and reasons-first moral philosophy (which I am told is a fad, although does that make Kant a fad?). I also would be an excellent candidate for being interested in Early Modern Women though I haven't read any yet.
