  1. 1/09. I’m assuming we’ll hear back sometime this week or next, hopefully
  2. The wait for advanced standing is driving me insane. I am checking my application like a maniac
  3. Congrats!! Did you apply to the 2 year or advanced standing?
  4. Did you apply to the 2 year program or advanced standing?
  5. Fordham only gave me 30 business days to render a decision. I’m hoping I hear from NYU before then. I’ve sent the admissions office an email asking for an extension but I haven’t received a reply.
  6. Has anyone that applied to the nyu advanced standing program receive any news yet? It's looking like the other programs have been hearing back a little quicker.
  7. Thank you! I applied on 1/07 and received a decision on 1/23. Cumulative GPA is a 2.9 from my previous major/social work GPA is a 4.0. I have done a lot of volunteer work in the field (one example: I am a mentor for children in the foster care system) and I am currently interning at an alternative high school.
  8. I don't mind at all. My cumulative GPA is 2.9 due to previously being an exercise science major and not caring about my classes/grades, but my social work GPA is a 4.0.
  9. I was accepted into Fordham University’s Advanced Standing program! My application was complete on Jan. 7 - heard back within 16 days. My stats aren’t so great, so if anyone is worried just stay hopeful!! Still waiting to hear back from NYU.

  11. Hi everyone! I am applying to NYU, USF, UCF, & FIU. I’m also afraid of not getting into any, so I’ve been thinking of some back up plans. Has anyone submitted their apps? I’m hoping to have mine in by the end of November, just waiting for my LOR’s. Good luck to you all! Hope everyone gets into their first choice
  12. Hi emn2952, MSW programs will look at your GPA, but they will not use it to determine whether to accept you or not. As long as your personal statement and letter of recommendations are VERY strong, you should be ok. In your personal statement try to include why your GPA is low, how the US Peace Corps has helped you grow, what you've learned, and how it has prepared you for graduate level course work. If you can explain how being an education volunteer has led you to social work you should be fine. Most programs do not require the GRE, but if you feel you will do well on it then it is recommended to take it.
