Well no interview invites yet, BUT I did just get a job offer to work full-time in a new lab :) salary and benefits! Yay for a backup plan!

Congrats! How are you handling potentially starting a PhD program along with having the offer? Does the lab know that it's contingent on you not getting accepted to a program?

Same. I think what's most difficult for me is that individuals at my workplace/lab who are also applying this app round do not talk about it(?). Everyone is applying to similar schools, very similar interests, and clearly some individuals are much more competitive than others... And it's this weird, day-long, awkward silence in the hallways...

I guess we can all not talk to each other from now until March? Lol what! People are so silly :)

I know! If I didn't have this outlet to talk about it I would go insane since no one else seems to (outwardly) care.

Hi! I'm interested in diversity-related research  (intergroup relations, social cognition, bias, stereotypes, prejudice).

Applied to 9 schools (Stanford, UMich, Yale, Northwestern, UW, Purdue, PennState, NYU, Indiana-Bloomington) and planning to apply to one more (UVa)

If anyone was wondering, Northwestern has started their preliminary interviews for social psych it seems! I was invited Monday and did the Skype call today. Apparently they'll meet in the next week or two to discuss who they'll invite to on-campus interviews.

I found this thread while trying to figure out when other schools I've applied to start their interviews so if anyone's got a clue... :D

Congrats on the Skype interview! I also applied to work with Perry. You and I have very similar interests and many similar schools as well!

Clinical person snooping here, and, yes, you all are definitely holding it together a lot better ?

Wish I applied to social, less anxiety and neuroticism on your threads compared to others haha;). There's a reason people say clinical psychologists have to be somewhat crazy to do what they do.

Hahah I found the best way to summon the clinical folk. The anxiety and neuroticism is definitely real with me but I'm just good at ignoring it.

edit: and booking plenty of therapy sessions over the next couple of months!

Social tends to be the last. Seems to be clinical, developmental, cognitive then social hahaha I might be wrong though.

On a related note, toronto, texas, northeastern and DU have begun the review process. Got an email from DU and NEU not the other 2

At this point I think we're holding ourselves together a little better than the other areas.. don't tell them I said that. :P

I had recurring dreams about quitting science to become a dairy farmer. Maybe it's a sign.

Good luck to everyone! I'm trying to keep my mind on work, but it's been tough (posting this from the lab...). I've got a screening interview tomorrow and need to pester some programs about what they did with my transcripts/GRE scores, so I'm not totally out of the woods yet.

If I don't get into any programs I'll join your farm.

On a different note, Temple never opened my official transcript PDF. They do have my unofficial transcript. Should I email them about it?

Did they require an official transcript PDF/does it still show as unreceived in the app portal? If so I'd definitely email.

just submitted the final app yesterday, and had a dream that I received rejection emails from all of my schools. I was so amused how terrible my app must've been, to get rejected in less than 24 hours. let's talk about anxieties creeping into the unconscious.... *facepalm*

Omg I had bad dreams for about two or three nights in a row after submitting my apps.

    Hi y'all! Quick app question:

I took two online masters classes in forensic psychology this fall and got my final grades last night; I did quite well. I sent the transcripts without final grades to my schools, but should I also now send transcripts with grades to my schools as well? Not sure if the grades would help me given I don't have a psychology background, or if they'll even be looked at.

It wouldn't hurt! Lots of application systems have a place to upload final grades.

How are clinical programs with 12/1 deadlines already extending Skype interviews. I'm about to fall off my rocker. My applications haven't even gone "under review" except for Rice.. Whose deadline isn't even until 12/15 ?‍♀️

Clinical usually has so many more applicants too! I've heard from talking to social faculty that a lot of them meet in committees or all of department reviews applications, but obviously that varies. Maybe we're just getting more thorough consideration ;)

Also none of mine are under review either yet or at least I haven't gotten an email about it - I should probably check the application portals just to make sure though.

The only schools that show under review are Texas and UMN and that was like right after I submitted, so I'm in the same boat.

What do skype interviews mean? Is this in place of in-person, or is this a preliminary interview to determine whether or not they would like to meet in person?

They might have a shortlist of people they want to interview in person but want to narrow it down before spending $$$ on having you travel there. Plus what @brainwrangler said. After an entire day of interviewing, your brain is scrambled. Good luck!!

    edit.. no brain pun intended

Just realized that for the next few months, my heart is going to skip like five beats when an unknown caller pops up on my phone screen! Extra skips if it's from an outside area code! Eeek

Right now I can't receive calls on my cell nor does my voicemail work so I am scrambling to get that remedied. At least they all know I have an email address!
