  1. I agree with Joe- I don’t think it would be an entirely appropriate question to answer because it could feel awkward for the POI. But I completely get wanting to ask!
  2. Thanks for your response! It doesn’t really ”help” me, I guess, it’s more about what @Mickey26 says below... I’m SO excited to get an interview, but then I’m like “oh right, odds still aren’t in my favor”, even though of course I feel so lucky to have made it to interviews. Thank you for your input!! Those are EXACTLY my thoughts right now about it all! I hope your interviews go well!!! Am am I the only one who low key pictures this whole thing like hunger games? May the odds be ever in your favor.
  3. I’ve read that often 3-6 people are interviewed for one spot at Clinical psych phd programs. I’m trying to handle my stress right now and guess how many people will be also interviewing with my POI. So if they seem to have one interview date, and it includes dinner with current students at a restaurant the night before, then a day of events& there are 7-8 professors who are accepting students- does it make sense that it would still be 3-6 students interviewing with each prof? Yes I’m aware that is a somewhat (extremely ) ridiculous question to ask. But also, give me your thoughts. #sendhelp
  4. I know a similar question has been asked, but I don’t remember which thread and am looking for some feedback! I was invited to interview at a school that is in the city where I live. The school knows I live locally and referenced it in my invite. After my invite, I got a message from a current student going over some details for the interview weekend and about setting up accommodations if I’m coming from out of town (it says feel free to ignore if you live locally). They offer to set you up to stay with a grad student if you’re coming from out of town. When this was discussed on one of these threads earlier, I remember people saying to stay with a student if given the opportunity. However, in this case, does it seem like I should not set that up? I live less than 4 miles away. There is a dinner with current students the night before interview day, and obviously I’m going that that. What do you guys think? I think I’m overthinking everything bc I’m so excited/ anxious!!
  5. School: USUHS Type: Clinical Psych PhD- civilian track Date of invite: 01/23/2019 Type of invite: Email Interview date(s): 2/25 CRYING. Omg.
  6. If you didn’t hear back from a school that finished sending out interview invites, and weren’t told you were on the waitlist, is it safe to assume that’s a full rejection ?
  7. We chatted about this on the clinical psych PhD/psyd thread their admissions said offers will go out late Jan/ early feb, but some posters mentioned some tracks may be impacted by the shutdown.
  8. I’ve wondered about this too- I applied civilian. I know DOD isn’t affected at this point- but that’s stressful that your PI said that ?. Any more insight? Ugh. I wonder if it’s too late to switch tracks ????
  9. Oh my gosh same. Crickets. @ClinPsych519All I know is I called yesterday and the person was like I don’t know but invites haven’t gone out yet. Good luck!!!

  11. Guys. I am a long shot applicant to PhD programs- I’ve wanted to be a psychologist FOREVER (this is no exaggeration, my dads a psychiatrist and I grew up grilling him about his cases and reading psych journals). I did a ton of research as an undergrad, did a bunch of presentations and spoke at a few events, and I have an article under review. I applied to grad school straight out college 10 years ago and didn’t get in. I ended up becoming a social worker (which has been great) vs RA/ reapplying due to some life circumstances/ constraints. Anyway! Life circumstances changed and I applied to some schools. Tbh, objectively I know I’m not super competitive on the research front. But omg I want this so badly I can taste it. I haven’t heard back from any schools yet- one school is currently sending out invites (and my email is crickets).... but the others haven’t yet. I am legit going crazy. I JUST WANT ANSWERS PEOPLE. That is all. Send help. Fml.
  12. I have a MSW and am a licensed social worker feel free to PM me!
  13. This is from their website: “We hope to contact applicants with invitations to interview by January 18.” haven’t seen anyone post anything yet. Most everything in DC was shut down today bc of the snowstorm... a lot of delays and closures tomorrow- so unsure if it’s going to slow stuff down more
  14. To Clark applicants: I was an undergrad there and have nothing but GREAT things to say re the psych department. I did research with EC for a few years. If anyone wants to chat about the program or even the Worcester area - feel free to message me!!
  15. Has anyone who heard back from GW PhD had CR as their POI? Thanks!
  16. As of this afternoon, their director of admissions said they are finalizing their decisions for interview invitations today. Good luck!
