  1. Just a heads up that I’m assuming Northwestern is closed right now due to the polar vortex! I’m in Michigan and we’re in a state of emergency from the cold temperatures.
  2. Pitt has listed on their website that all interviews will go out by 1/21 and the PI I applied to sent them all out the two weeks prior. If you haven't heard anything, I would assume rejections.
  3. For those of you who applied/will be interviewing with Hofstra University, that’s where I went for undergrad and given the small school/psych department, I know all the clinical faculty if you have any questions!
  4. I will say that I do think every program should should have alternate dates and it seems like none of my programs do ha. I guess the best thing would’ve been to have application due dates earlier so they could do what you’re suggesting. I know most programs review internship and post doc applications before graduate applications though.
  5. How do you suggest every school fit their interviews into the short time frame to conduct them without overlapping? It’s impossible to coordinate. It sucks but it is what it is. My top 3 programs all have the same interview weekend ??‍♀️ As people say, it’s the best problem to have.
  6. Our government is shutdown so that means TSA employees aren’t being paid (and all government employees except congress and the executive branch essentially) sooo in theory they could go on strike. If they do go on strike, they won’t have their jobs anymore so it’s really messed up that they have to work for free or not have a job. I don’t think this would impact you coming in but it may impact you going home! I hope this isn’t a concern for any of us and the government opens up soon.
  7. This is my first time applying and I applied to 9 schools. So far I have 2/9 interviews and those interviews are for programs that are both in my top 3 (haven’t heard back from #1 yet). I only applied to faculty who have similar interests as me and because I’m currently in a neuropsych lab doing similar research to what I hope to be doing in grad school, my PI and another mentor who’s junior faculty did know a decent amount of PI’s I was applying to. For one school, I do think my PI played a large role in helping myself and the other R.A. in our lab get an interview bc it’s a top program/the faculty is good friends with my PI/I’ve met him already casually through a happy hour. For the other school, I think it’s mostly because we have overlapping interests but not exactly the same. I have a very low undergrad gpa (3.2) and strong gre scores besides quant. I also have 5 poster presentations, 2 manuscripts either in revision or under review (I’m 2nd author on one), and 1 chapter in prep where I’m first author. In my case, bc I’m interested in neuropsych, having assessment skills is a huge plus on my application. Coming in with a skill that they would otherwise need to teach you gives you an edge. Also, I know they say it doesn’t really matter, but I would always recommend emailing the PI’s prior to submitting applications. I did that and one of my PI’s offered me an informal phone interview back in September and now that is my other interview. As everyone else has said, it really is a crapshoot. Based off what other people are saying, this does seem like a very competitive cycle. Good luck!! Editing to add that I graduated undergrad in May 2017 & have been working in the same lab since. I had a research assistantship during undergrad and also was able to do clinical work in a different population than what I’m interested in but given the population, I think it really helped my application.
  8. I FEEL YOU. My top 3 programs all have the same interview weekend. I’ve received invites to two so far and had to opt for phone/ask for alternate, too. It’s the best problem to have but ughhhhhh.
  9. I didn’t apply there but my friend did and received an invite a few hours ago.
  10. Thank you!! I’m applying for clinical psych PhD so this is great info. Best of luck!!
  11. Hi, this is a question for those of you who have applied more than once. Were you offered any interviews the other times you applied? Just trying to gauge my chances now that I have two interviews and this is my first round! Thanks in advance
  12. School: University of Nebraska - Lincoln Type: Clinical Psychology PhD Date of invite: January 09 Type of invite: Email from POI with formal invitation from grad admissions to follow Interview date(s): February 15-17 Feel free to DM me for PI
  13. I also wouldn't trust the calendar completely! It says that Pitt's interview notification deadline is next Friday, January 18 but on their website they say January 21.
  14. I saw someone posted an interview a little while ago but nothing since then. I'm also waiting to hear back!
  15. I got my interview from Florida a little after 11am. I’ve been trying to gauge the same thing
  16. Hi, could the most recent UNL posters DM me their POI’s if they’re willing? Thanks in advance and congrats!!
  17. No they haven’t yet. Probably not for another week or two based off what my friend who’s a second year there said.
  18. I figured once it was dec 26 they would start notifying again! I’m going crazy over here waiting for Jan 3/4th for UNL!! On a separate note, I’ve been offered one interview for clinical psych PhD and am not being reimbursed but I am able to stay with a grad student.
