  1. Would the person mind PMing me as well? Thank you!!
  2. School: Illinois Institute of Technology Type: Clinical Psychology PhD Date of Invite: 1/25 Type of invite: Email Interview date(s): 3/1
  3. Does anyone know typically how long after interview weekend do Clinical Psych PhD programs contact accepted applicant(s)?
  4. I got this same email and my heart fell into my stomach. I had honestly just given up on hearing back from anywhere else haha.
  5. I feel your pain I feel like a lot of us got unlucky with this round because of how competitive it is this year. I don't know if people say that every year, but it seems like a lot of people took time off to do do research for 2-3 years, so they have really impressive post-bac research assistantships, and P.I.'s are just having to make a call about how to invite, knowing full well many well qualified applicants won't make the cut.
  6. For anyone that applied to Clinical Psych PhD programs at UNC-Chapel Hill, American University, or University of Cincinnati - I emailed their graduate admissions and all these programs are still sending out interview invites. Not all interview slots have been filled. UNC applicants will hear by January 18th, and University of Cincy applicants should hear by the end of Jan. Hope that helps!
  7. Hi everyone, how did you all find out if you were alternates or high alternates for interviews for certain programs? Were you notified or did you have to call/email?
  8. Has anyone heard back from University of Pittsburgh, UNC Charlotte or Illinois Institute of Technology? If so, would you mind DMing me your POI? Thank you!!
  9. My P.I. told me this year was the most competitive application cycle she's seen in the last 3-4 years. She took on two last year because of funding, and can only take one this year, but it's frustrating on their end too because she is having to be pickier this year even though (in her opinion) the applicants are much more qualified. If this is truly your dream career, I would encourage you to apply again and don't lose hope!
  10. I don't think it matters how many times you've applied honestly. As my P.I. says, "everyone is ready at different times". I applied two years ago and was waitlisted, but I also wasn't clear on what my research interests were and just tried to mould myself to what I though the lab P.I. wanted rather than to explore my own interests. Now I know exactly what I want to do and confident about it, and I have a lot more interviews.
  11. Thank you for this tip!! And thank you all for your advice. I feel like I'm going to go into this process with imposter syndrome just because I'm not from a family of academics or super well off. I feel more comfortable now
  12. To the person that said to not just get an outfit from Target and go for a more expensive suit from Macy's.. what does that mean exactly? My family is not very well off and I am already strapped for money just from applying to programs. I have always been a bargain shopper trying to get nice pieces from places like TJMaxx, but I am concerned that the lab might judge me for it? I am ready for the harsh reality if that is the case, I would just rather be prepared. My P.I. and all her grad students said wearing a suit for interviews is a must for clinical psych. I am planning to wear a black tailored blazer, black ankle-length formal pants and a blouse from Express. Does anyone foresee a problem with this attire?
  13. I've been seeing on some schools websites that all applicants will be notified for interviews by January 18th, that being said one of the current graduate students I work with said she got an interview invite the last week of January for an interview literally the next week! I know it's stressful but I don't think there's a big reason to stress too much just yet. Good luck everyone!
  14. Could anyone who's heard from UNC or SUNY-Albany please DM me their POI? Thanks and good luck everyone!
  15. I heard back from three schools prior to Christmas and then radio silence for the last ten days or so, I know it's been the holidays, but I can't help stressing and feeling like I should have heard back ?
  16. I have heard the current graduate students at my lab talk about how they like to use the time to get to know the interviewees a little bit better, and form a stronger opinion. If you happen to hit it off with a grad student during the home stay, it can put you at an advantage. Opting out of a home stay is almost like giving up an interview. While it is stressful to have to be "on" the whole time, the increased face time allows you to make a better impression and get valuable insight into the program. My lab PI places a huge emphasis on feedback from her graduate students when discussing prospective students after interview weekends, so I would agree with what some other posters said and try and suck it up if you can. On the other hand, you know yourself best, and if you feel you may be irritable and not refreshed, you might rub your host the wrong way, and that could hurt your chances. Good luck on whatever you decide!
  17. My PI said that she had to notify the department of her choices for interviews last week, but they still haven't sent out interview invites to those applicants, how frustrating!

  22. That site is also helpful for some interview notification deadlines. That's how I found out there are a few who will let you know by the 21st!
  23. I would also love the POI initials for George Mason please!
  24. There is a set of schools that supposedly are going to send out their interview invites by Dec 21st. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and trying not to frantically check my email constantly!
