  1. From the result page it seems like UPenn is making a move. Can anyone here claim the acceptances?
  2. It’s a no brainer for me - I’d go for UWM.
  3. From an email that was sent out to everyone prior to the submission deadline: “Week of Feb. 18: Admissions committee meets to finalize final admission list and waitlist. Either I or the subfield faculty representative will contact those individuals to whom we wish to extend an offer of admission during this week (or possibly the early part of the subsequent week). Official offer letters typically take an additional week or two due to the administrative process they must go through before becoming official. If you have not heard from us by this point, it is safe to assume (unfortunately) that you will not be receiving an offer of admission from our program”. My interviewer said something along this line as well.
  4. I had an interview with Vanderbilt earlier this week.
  5. I'm really curious if the Duke acceptances have all come out. My application portal still hasn't changed, and at this point I'm assuming that it's a rejection. I did get two interviews lined up for this week, and that's enough to keep my hopes up.
  6. Congratulations! That must be really dope. What is your subfield?
  7. I think you raise several legit issues with the graphs, especially the self-reporting biases. But if you keep in mind that these numbers are based entirely off results from Grad Cafe, I think they can still save you the time you might want to spend going through pages of reports. The timelines do not give you a specific date. It does tell you when waves of acceptances/rejections/interviews have come out in the previous years so we don't have to sit around wondering if the schools will be sending us emails any time soon.
  8. This may be useful for all of you who are waiting for their results: https://www.reddit.com/r/gradadmissions/comments/7srxxy/decision_timelines_for_particular_universities/ The graphs include timelines for when specific schools have released their results between 2013 and 2017, as well as GRE and GPA distributions. It doesn't have all the schools, probably due to smaller amounts of data points, but still interesting and anxiety-relieving.
  9. All the interview reports were by international students - does anyone know if Pitt interviews domestic students as well?
  10. Congratulations! I know how anxious you must have been for the past few weeks. This must feel so amazing!
  11. Congrats to everyone getting their good news so far! I didn’t apply to these schools so my wait only just begun, but after a quiet weekend hearing those acceptances is very exciting.
  12. I don't think AWA is a matter of private tutoring, but like pretty much all other aspects of the GRE, you can improve with practice. Fyi I'm also an international student, and English is my second language. My first AWA was 5 after a few practice essays, my second AWA went up to 5.5 a month later. In total, I wrote about 20 timed practice essays in that one month, so on average I did not spend more than an hour a day on it. I understand that there may be other factors getting in the way of your studying, but it may be misleading to other GRE test-takers to conclude that way.
  13. Some schools explicitly state that the deadline is for all supporting materials, and "late" applications will only be considered after all on-time applications have been processed. Now I'm just debating whether I should contact them about this. I also checked all of my applications today and for some, my GRE scores also came in after the deadline. I don't think it should be such a big deal, but it's still a source for anxiety nonetheless ?
  14. Thanks! I might try to do that. At the same time, I also don't want to draw extra attention the late letter. It's actually a 4th letter outside of the required 3, so I don't know how my application is classified in the system. Also, anyone applying to UChicago? Just checked today and apparently the deadline has been extended to January 3rd, 2019.
  15. Hey guys! Does anyone have any idea about when schools with Dec 15 deadlines begin reviewing their applications? I had a few late letters coming in this week and I'm just curious if this would hurt my applications on the whole ?
