Just got my official acceptance letter from UW-Madison in the mail today. I was a little surprised/disappointed to read that they aren't able to offer funding for the first year (I was really hoping for a GA position too). Did anyone else get this? I'm wondering if this is standard for all incoming grads, or if I just didn't make the cut. ? Edit: Oops, just saw @yeet 's post from earlier (congrats on getting in, by the way!). Perhaps this is department-wide, then? I'm also curious about how to go about negotiating funding. I've been offered full funding to my other top choice, but I don't want to give up on Madison just yet!

Just had my interview! I think it went well -- your input definitely helped, thank you! It was very conversational rather than rapidfire questions, and each of my answers were followed up with relevant opportunities that they offer. It ended up being more around half an hour for me, since I had a few questions. Hope we hear back with good news!

Got an acceptance email from UW-Mad yesterday! Whew. Hope everyone is holding up okay. I’m so glad this forum exists — it’s made the waiting period so much more bearable!

Just got an interview request with PNCA! We scheduled for a phone call on Friday morning. I'm pretty nervous, this will be my first interview. ? Has anyone interviewed with them yet?

It sounds like some folks here that got acceptances also got info on funding right away. Is anyone else still waiting to hear back on funding packages? It might be late March before I get any details from UMN.

I was accepted to UMN by a phone call with the department chair last Wednesday. He mentioned travel funding being available for a campus tour in late March, but said more details on funding/assistantship placement would be given later on -- perhaps even as late as the campus tour dates. Their website used to say that the program offers full tuition remission, health benefits, and stipends to all admitted students, but this has been removed from their site since applications closed. Is it normal not to have funding information available right away? When should I be following up on this (without seeming too pushy)?

For anyone that's been accepted to a program so far... Has your "application status" been updated yet? I got my UMN acceptance by phone, but app status still says "Submitted - Awaiting Decision". Perhaps I'm just being obsessive, but it makes me doubtful and wonder if the call was made in error. ? But then again, that could be the impostor syndrome talking!

Applied in printmaking, haven’t heard anything back yet. No changes on the app status, either. What was their method of notification in the past? Phone, email?

Oops, my mistake for saying ALL 3 — there’s definitely well over three! Looking back at our conversations, he applied to UCLA, Riverside, and Irvine. And thank you!! UMN is my top choice along with UW-Mad, so I’m excited. They called this morning and left a voicemail saying that I got accepted, no interview (thank goodness).

To those that are asking about UCSB, a photographer I know is applying to all three UC schools and has interviews with two of them this week. Not sure of any other details, but I hope it offers some clarity! Also, I just got a call from the Drawing/Painting/Printmaking dept head at University of Minnesota — I was accepted!!

Website finally got a hit from Madison, WI! Going to try not to read into why they were only on it for two minutes... Congrats to everyone getting interview requests! Its exciting to hear things are actually happening now!!

Not sure about the other two, but still waiting to hear back from UW-Madison. I would assume we'll hear something in the next week or so. UMN deadline was 1/1 and they're expecting notifications to go out early Feb.

I lined up a residency at the Vermont Studio Center for this June! A friend of mine that recently finished his MFA did a residency there, and since then has gotten accepted to several other programs. So, a good way to get your foot in the door! Where are you thinking of applying?

Dang, I haven't gotten any hits from them yet. Madison and UMN were my early deadlines, also my top choices. Hopefully we hear something soon. Good luck to you!

Did anyone apply to/hear back from Madison yet? Applied with a print media focus in: UW-Madison University of Minnesota Northern Illinois University PNCA And now we wait and see. ? I'd love to hear book/podcast suggestions! I need another hobby outside of obsessively checking my website analytics.
