barshmie reacted to disidentifications in 2019 Applicants
me @ pretty much all my remaining schools this week: won't you be my valentiiiiiine?
(let's just hope this week won't cumulate in a tragic heartbreak.)
(edit: though, of course, Chicago got there first, so to all the schools attempting to reject me this week, don't even bother trying, because none of you will hurt my soft and fragile heart as much as Chicago did. jk.)

Good morning everyone-- Hang in there today!
I'm nervously awaiting news from some of my top schools this week and am hoping it will come soon ?.

From the list of projected acceptance dates, it seems like Berkeley generally notifies over a few days. @Warelin, am I interpreting this correctly?

Claiming the UCLA waitlist just posted to the board, which was sent to me at 8:45 PCT last night. Feeling slightly validated but not really excited. The limbo is without end.
Anyway, wanted to let you all know that it looks like the waitlist has gone out. Congrats to @sugilite and condolences to those who were rejected :/!
Edit: If anyone knows anything about UCLA's history of waitlist acceptances, I'd be interested to know. @Warelin might have some insight?

Thoughts on this morning's surprise Chicago acceptance? Do we think this is a multi-day rollout? Does anyone want to claim it? I need to kill the last shred of hope I have left, and am struggling. ?
Congrats to whoever posted the Davis acceptance-- you are an inspiration.
Also-- welcome to @millw. I share the same fears ?, but it is still early in the game for us. Don't count yourself out yet.

i had a dream last night that the admissions process involved everyone queueing up to be publicly and loudly assessed in turn by the Admissions Committee - & to really up the intensity, we all had to bring our friends and family along with us to witness the assessment?! anyway it was very terrible and i did have a moment of relief upon waking up to realise that, no matter how grueling this process is, at the very least i don't have to stand at the head of the queue alongside my parents and brothers whilst an admissions committee calls my prose 'tepid' ?

Warelin mentioned yesterday that typical cohort size for JH is 5. Since two are on the board and someone said on another thread that their friend got one also I think it's safe to assume they've all gone out. Perhaps not waitlist though?

Alright looks like it’s going to be another reject then. Sigh ?... I thought I had good fit too.

I called the English dept- she said reviews are still underway and she doesn't know when decisions will go out but should be soon.

I think you'd have a lot of luck checking out critics of georgics and ecocriticism. There's a good amount of discussion similar to what you're getting at here, especially with the juxtaposition of tame, tended gardens to so-called natural gardens. In addition, I would look to animal studies scholarship for moving beyond anthropocentric viewpoints. In any case, I've listed quite a few potential sources below. Maybe one will be helpful. I also second the Nixon suggestion, it's a must-read.

So did mine. She also said I should only check once per day. I said, "get real ?".

Ugh sorry I keep confusing people. I need faces to connect with events (but I too haven't put up a photo). We can be there for each other when we get rejected.
Anyway, this is really killing me today. I turned my phone alerts on for my decision email this morning and used the ringtone "suspense" as I kind of cruel personal joke, which I do not recommend... the suspense is horribly anticlimactic when it's Vitacost reminding you that there are still items in your cart ?

To the contrary, I think your memes would be a real boon to your application. Especially the one with the lab, which had me in stitches ?.
Anyway it's almost insulting for me to suggest that they have the time/energy to read this forum, which they most certainly don't.

@Warelin Thank you, you are always so helpful. However, now the anxiety has returned ?.

UChicago is opening back up tomorrow, according to their website. I'm guessing we will get news Friday.
*also jk about having doubts about Chicago. Admissions, if you're out there, I love youuuuu ?... ??*
