  1. All US graduate schools (I believe all, but at minimum the vast majority) subscribe to a National Acceptance Deadline of April 15th. So they shouldn’t be requiring you to make any decisions or payments before that date. If they are, you might want to check them on it.
  2. Oh! You’ll also want to pay attention to if the program’s acceptance is conditional upon securing a GAship. Some programs require you to get an assistantship before you start the program and some don’t. So if one school will rescind your acceptance of you don’t get a GAship, and one would still accept you and you can find a GAship once you start in the fall, you’ll want to go to the one that requires a GAship right off the bat.
  3. This is a VERY common situation, so don’t be too hung up it. You will need to decide which program you would prefer and go to that interview day. For the other one, simply email them to let them know that you would love to be there but have a conflict preventing you from attending and request a virtual interview like Skype or Zoom. This happens all the time, they’re used to it. You would think the big Higher Ed schools would coordinate better but, alas.
  4. There’s a post on the results page about a rejection from Syracuse’s Cultural Foundations of Education program, stating “Apparently all the decisions were made on Wednesday.” There aren’t any other results posted from ‘Cuse. Anybody know what this means or anything on Syracuse’s CFE program?
  5. I haven’t heard anything yet. Judging from last year’s results, we should hear sometime in the next 2 weeks. The anticipation is killinggggg me!
  6. Hi Sissi! Which program did you apply to?
  7. HGSE Interviewees: Congratulations!! Could you share which program you’re interviewing with?

  9. To the two previous posters: I applied to UCLA too! HEOC PhD. Good luck!! Maybe I’ll see ya in CA!
  10. The more December admissions updates get posted to the results page the thinner the already thin veil over my panic becomes. Winter is here.

  12. I submitted a condensed version of the Chapter 5 Discussion portion of my Masters thesis as my writing sample, if that’s helpful!

  16. Edit: If you're willing to share your SOP please message me! I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!
  17. Welp, thats it for me folks. Rejections across the board. I haven't heard back from Penn (Soc) or Harvard (SocPol) but I imagine those rejections are on their way. BUT I HAVE NOT LOST HOPE! I'll work for a year (meh), get a tutor for my GRE, give that another go, work on my SOP and try again next year! Congratulations to all those admitted! And for those who weren't admitted I hope I see you back here for another go! *finger pistols* Speaking of SOP, would those accepted mind sharing their SOPs with me? I would love to see what worked for you all. Congrats again!
  18. Yes! I’m also still waiting on Maryland. This is very late for them, considering past years on the results board here. When I spoke with my POI in January they mentioned that UMD took so many applicants last year that they would only take 3-5 this year. I’m assuming that means they haven’t finished cutting down the pool or they have sent out first round acceptances and are waiting on confirmations from those people before sending out rejections. Just an assumption though, take it with many grains of salt.
  19. I'm with you, friend. Applied to 7 schools, rejected from 3, feeling like I'm expecting 4 more rejections this week or next. See y'all next year!
  20. Can anyone claim the Maryland acceptance on the board?
  21. Harvard Sociology & social policy, Princeton sociology & social policy, Yale, NYU, Maryland, Penn
  22. There are a couple Penn acceptances on the results board but I haven’t heard anything yet. (I was also rejected from a Columbia, I feel you)
  23. Has anyone applied to Harvard and/or Princeton Social Policy? I applied to both Sociology and Social Policy at both schools and haven’t heard back from either.
  24. Still waiting on Maryland too! In years past they typically release by now but keeping my fingers crossed!
