Honestly, I wore jeans and a t-shirt for my last visit day, with some comfortable boots. I'm glad I did. There is a lot of walking as they show you around campus. The last thing I wanted was to cut the tour short because of my own needs. It was also raining a lot, so I had to wear my rain jacket over everything.
I spent most of the time with other graduate students, who probably don't mind what I wear. Sociology is also accepting in this way, anyway.

Didn't you get into Harvard? Try getting into *zero* schools and then we can talk about having a quarter-life crisis lol

Some people on the site include summer funding and some don't. Some people have optional teaching on top of full fellowships. Some people are including health insurance or some tuition remission costs. Also make sure to check out the years, because funding varies based on year as well. Can't speak to any specific school, but that might account for some different numbers. (Of course, some people could just be making stuff up, but if I were going to troll people online one day, I'd probably pick a different website. )

lol right? I have two monitors in my office and one of them is devoted to grad school stuff. And I don't use the other. Are you seeing the picture I just drew?

Idk about you guys, but once all the results are in it's going to be weird not spending every second of my human existence checking my email, gradcafe, reddit, and grad portals. I'll have to get a life... I kind of forget what life was like before this.

Can we keep the trash talk out of the results? Looking at you Stanford ppl. Whether you're bashing on others or just posting your opinion, no one cares. I just want to see results come in. Keep the results clean.

Ah I see.  I guess it could go either way then.  It's really hard to tell with these admissions committees.

I had an interview with CUNY a couple of days ago. It was informal and mostly wanted to assess interest in the program, from what I can tell. The program chair said decisions will go out next week.

    Hi,
I stumbled on this site/thread while looking up on Google when the Princeton admissions would come out, and created an account to hopefully provide some insight to those who applied to Harvard. I got an acceptance call on Monday, and the next day (Tuesday) they sent out an email to about a dozen applicants admitted to the Sociology PhD program (listing each person by name) about being accepted and going to the visit day. If you weren't included on that email, it seems unlikely you were accepted. I'm sorry, and I hope this brings you some closure. From what I gather in that email, however, they haven't made decisions for the Sociology and Social Policy PhD program. I don't know how that program works, how admission to that affects admission to just sociology, so maybe there's hope?

    Oh it's real alright!
The call came somewhere around 3:30 PST.

Thank you to the above people who have congratulated me and wished me well...it truly means a lot to me. I'm literally dying and can't believe this is really happening. I appreciate the fact that my POI/committee chair took a moment to tell me that no, this is not a mistake, because I definitely was and still am feeling like this is a huge accident. I sounded like a bumbling idiot on the phone and just cried and kept saying THANK YOU SO MUCH IM SO SORRY FOR CRYING. Luckily he was really cool about it and understood. Pretty personal, but I am actually the first person in my family to even complete high school so this is literally the most incredible and unexpected honor I could ever have happen to me and my family.

That's so awesome!!!! Congratulations!!!! From what I've heard, Michigan's provisions for day care etc. make it the best place in the US to be a parent in grad school -- I'm so so happy to hear you got in!

Same. I'm 99.9% sure I will be rejected just because the fit wasn't really strong for me with their department.
I'm literally begging for my first rejection at this point. All I have are implied rejections. I NeEeeddDdD ClOsSuUrrREeE.

I feel this. All of my mentors were like "TRUST ME, you're going to have to end up deciding who YOU want to accept."
I did get into Irvine, but am sitting on 4 implied rejections at this point.
Did you already hear anything from Brown? I see your signature indicates that you were rejected?

Hi, I posted that after speaking I believe two Fridays ago with a current grad student who was on the admissions committee, but don't have any additional info about it. Seemed like they were moving pretty fast on them though.

Hi, another long-time lurker, first time poster here. I can claim one of UT Austin’s acceptances and also waiting on funding info. POI said it would arrive within a week from my acceptance day (last Tuesday), so hoping it’s today or tomorrow.
Someone posted that UCLA still had a bunch of apps to review a few days ago. Do we know if that’s still the case?
