Hey guys, I have seen a few people posting about Yale prelims. I know one poster said for ABS you need to get prelim to be considered for interview. I am wondering if that’s true for all POIs? I am especially thinking of JJ

Hey, PhD programs don’t require Masters, however, they require pre-requisite courses and/or GRE psychology (it’s may (not) be exempted due to COVID). As long as you can establish those things masters would not be required. An important thing to establish would be relevant research/clinical experience based on the kind of program you’re applying. While work exp may not be explicitly listed, it would be an unspoken requirement. You can check APA to see list of programs. And you can then check specific programs for specific POIs, research and clinical orientation. Hope that helps

Umm..so my academic history is a little unorthodox. I don't have background in psychology. I do have research experience but it is not necessarily relevant to what I want to do now. I feel like I am in the grey zone. How about you?

Hello my fellow applicants, How are you guys managing the crippling anxiety when you see people in your program are starting to hear back? I had my first experience yesterday, when someone posted about a preliminary interview at my top choice. My rational mind knows it may be too early to jump to any conclusions, but I am sure y'all know it feels. So, what are your coping strategies to avoid the overwhelming fear of rejection? Waiting out is truly easier said than done!

I am on the same train. Even though I keep obsessively checking I feel like I won't hear back anything before the first week of January. The anticipation is killing me!
