  1. Hi Everyone, I am dropping my spot at Dal SLP as I have been accepted to a different program and have decided to enrol in it instead. This means a spot should opening up for Dal SLP! (I was non-maritime)
  2. Just got my acceptance into Dal SLP (well, my recommendation to FGS) off the waitlist!!
  3. Just got my acceptance into Dal SLP (well, my recommendation to FGS) off the waitlist!!
  4. I e-mailed Dal SLP admissions for some more information on waitlist movement and they couldn’t tell me much but did tell me “We may be sending out additional offer letters soon (late May or early June), after we’ve heard back from our first round of offers” so there’s still some hope. Does anyone who was accepted know when the deadline to accept Dal SLP by was?
  5. Hi there! I scored 163 on verbal (93rd percentile), 149 on quant (34th percentile) and 5/6 for written (92nd percentile) so I’ll speak only to verbal and written LOL. Honestly those flash cards were super important in helping me score well in my verbal section, I got the app on my phone and studied them in any given free moment and then just practice questions to get used to the format. I never actually did a proper full practice exam or a practice written section, I just reviewed the examples of what a high score in the GRE practice book were considered and did a few practice timed verbal sections. I’d say three months is a good amount of time if you don’t want to rush/ if you have other commitments (I had work). I started studying in September and I scheduled to write in November but I did postpone mine by a month because I was freaking out on how little math I had practiced but then didn’t end up having much more time to learn it anyways. My friends who scored very well on the math section told me practice questions were key because they use such a similar style in their exam that it’s just about getting used to solving that style of problems. Hope this helps, good luck!
  6. Congrats!! Would you mind privately messaging me your stats, I plan on re-applying to U of A next year if I don't get into Dal.
  7. Congratulations! Were you non-maritime? Also would you mind privately messaging me your stats?
  8. One of whom was an OOP accepted applicant to Dal SLP so there should be one spot opening up there once she declines them
  9. If you go to the waiting it out thread on page 19 then you’ll see at least 4 people have! (2 of whom I know personally)
  10. I had a friend who was accepted off the waitlist as late as June 5th last year (she declined because she got into U of A) and another friend of mine was accepted off the waitlist two days before classes started two years ago (obviously not ideal and she had already chosen a school abroad by then) so try not to lose hope! But I totally feel your pain especially since their waitlist is so mysterious in terms of size and where one is on it.
  11. Hi, I had the same issue and so I e-mailed their office asking about this inconsistency and they responded assuring me I was not missing any items and even if I were, they would notify me by e-mail should I be accepted off the waitlist. I just replied to the initial e-mail informing me I was waitlisted!
  12. Hey there, I am also waitlisted to Dal. Does your application summary, say "Incomplete items outstanding" next to application status? I'm unsure why because lower down everything else appears to be received.
  13. Mine actually says "Incomplete items outstanding" next to application status and I was waitlisted on April 2nd so maybe contact them?
  14. Thank you! Yes, I got an e-mail from them on April 2nd, I would maybe reach out to them in a few days if you haven't received anything? They told me I need to let them know if I want to keep my spot on the waitlist by April 15th. I am also a non-maritime applicant for reference.
  15. Hi! Congrats on getting in! Yes they did they did tell me that specifically along with the other criteria they look at when deciding on applicants. They also emphasized having more than one incomplete pre req wouldn’t bode well when I went to an information session for prospective applicants. My incomplete pre reqs are also linguistics/phonetics courses so that may have been a factor. I’m sure it was a mix of other factors as well, I just thought I’d at least have been on the waitlist. Good luck to everyone else waiting, fingers crossed!
  16. I am waitlisted at Dal, really hoping for an offer because I was rejected from U of A but I have a friend who told me she heard back from Dal waitlist as late as June 5th. As for those U of A waitlisted, good luck to you guys, my friend last year was waitlisted end of March and found out in April she was accepted.
  17. Hi everyone, Just discovered this forum. I switched from wanting to do OT to being an SLP after starting my job as an OTA and realizing how much I enjoyed the SLP side of things. I applied only to U of A and Dalhousie and was heartbroken when I received a rejection from U of A because it's where my home is. I thought I would at least be waitlisted but I am still completing two pre-reqs (one in an evening class and the other in spring because I work full time) and they told me that puts me at an automatic disadvantage. On the upside, on the same day as my rejection, I was waitlisted to Dalhousie. My friend who is in her first year of U of A SLP told me that the Dal waitlist moves a lot because everyone applies there due to no pre reqs and then turns them down if they get in at home. She also told me she was waitlisted at Dal and heard back as late as June 5th that she got accepted. I'm trying to keep my hopes up but I am also looking to applying to SLP programs abroad as back ups since I have a friend who was waitlisted at Dal but ultimately went to London for her SLP degree and is now writing her certification exams. Does anyone know how large Dal's waitlist as well as how many students they accept or any general acceptance/waitlist stats? Edit: for those still waiting to hear back from Dal, I heard back tow days ago on April 2nd through e-mail so maybe make sure to check your junk mail?
