I wish everyone still waiting for decisions the best of luck. This is by no means an easy process. The conviction it takes to do this is considerable.

Claiming Stanford (via phone call) and Cornell (via email). I'm pretty shocked -- I didn't expect this. I think it just happens to be a year where my research interests align well -- I doubt I could replicate this any other year. There is a lot out of anyone's control on this (fit, faculty availability, funding, etc.), and I know they could recreate exceptional cohorts 5 times over easily.
Wow. From the language of this, I'm assuming you read that Gary King article on Harvard's admissions lol.

As it stands now im at 0a/3r/0w/7p. Tomorrow morning, my last application deadline will have passed. I'm making a call for all good vibes you guys can muster to be sent my way. I need all the help I can get. This has been a long journey for me. I dropped out of high school my sophomore year, found myself homeless till I was 18, and had to fight tooth and nail to get my GED, claw my way through community college, transfer to university, get my degree from said university, and finally, finish my masters and begin working as an adjunct. Becoming a researcher and educator has been my dream for some time, and I'm hoping I can take a step in the right direction during the cycle. Best of luck to all those waiting on a decision. Remember, you're here for a reason, you are not an imposter.
I wish you the absolute best of luck with your applications. The fortitude you have is astonishing. I hope thinks work out for you this cycle!!! Please DM me if you have questions

Great, this means you are not fake, still though it does NOT mean you can blame everyone for being fake just because they do not screenshot their emails to prove you something.
Not blaming "everyone" at all. Though my initial post was a bit assertive, this website is full of individuals who wish to mislead prospective applicants.

Michigan has not responded. Someone is being VERY pricky. If GradCafe's monitoring system had an IP address banning function, it would be much less nerve-wracking.

you sure about that? Because I think I read it somewhere that the last year was extremely small cohort because of a very high yield the year before but this season should be back to normal.
This season (Michigan) is back to normal. The compensation was done during last application season. However, notice that over the years, according to their tableau, their yield has been increasing. They are not likely to admit as many people as they used to anyway, because they recognize the prestige they are accruing.

"I'm delighted to report that you've been admitted to Princeton's Ph.D. program in Politics with full tuition and fellowship support. Congratulations!
You will be receiving details from the Graduate School by next week. They will send the formal offer letter, which should take note of your funding package that will include five years of tuition and fees, as well as a generous twelve-month living stipend.
Meanwhile, I hope you will mark your calendar to visit Princeton on March 30-31, when we will be organizing a series of events to help you get acquainted with us. Those events begin on the morning of Monday the 30th and will wrap up on the afternoon of Tuesday the 31st and should give you an opportunity to meet many of our faculty and current graduate students and hear more about our program. We'll help with your travel costs and local arrangements.
We had a very large number of applications this year and could only admit a very small portion of them, so you are part of an extremely select group. My colleagues who saw your application believe Princeton would be an excellent match for your interests and a superb option for you to continue your studies and lay the foundations for your future career. We all look forward to meeting you and hope you decide to join us.
Please watch for the arrival of your admissions materials and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. If you have trouble reaching me or need help planning a visit, contact Julia Georgiana, the graduate program administrator at jgeorgiana@princeton.edu. You can learn more about the Department of Politics at Princeton and our faculty through the departmental website at http://politics.princeton.edu."

@SeriousDiver Congrats to you and everyone else who's gotten in! Do you know if they've sent out all the admit emails? Only waitlist/reject left?
According to a previous post here, they seem to have sent out at least one waitlist decision.

This is honestly such a process fraught with anxiety, but I have to be grateful at this point. Good luck to everyone still waiting for good news. This website stresses one out for sure.

What subfields? And is the application portal updated?
8 minutes ago, captmarvel said:Congrats on the Berkeley admits! Were they via a form email that seemed to go out to everyone at once or individualized?
I applied as a comparativist. No, the portal is not updated. They were pretty generalized forms, with the recipients name on top. I'm looking forward to other schools though. I also want to note that they may indeed not have sent out everything to every admit. Maybe they did it by alphabetical. Maybe by field. Maybe by submission of application date.

What questions are everyone asking faculty and students (for those who were fortunate enough to be admitted somewhere). And I don't mean the standard/obvious ones that everyone asks (eg. "stipend information"? "cohort size", living", research opportunities").
