  1. As some previous posts have asked, I was wondering if everyone could share whether or not their schools have any news of their plans for September? I’ve been accepted to UofT but we haven’t heard anything about whether or not there will be online courses or not. If anyone could share what other schools have been saying, that would be great!
  2. For those who’ve accepted UofT, I got my JOINID/ACORN login info today in an email!
  3. That really surprises me! Seeing as there is approx 40 spots in the Western program, I wonder what prompted them to allow 100 people to be on a waitlist position. I feel as though that's just giving false hope to applicants, and almost shows a lack of confidence in their own program.
  4. I've declined my Western waitlist position! There is hope everyone, keeping my fingers crossed for all of you playing the waiting game!!
  5. Accepted at Toronto and waitlisted at Western!! I’ll most likely accept Toronto so hopefully that will move the waitlist on Western! Congratulations everyone!!!
  6. I thought it was during the work hours (9-5) but if it’s at midnight that’s so exciting!! Whatever the response (rejection or acceptance) I’m not sure how I’ll sleep!
  7. Does anyone know if COVID-19 will affect any dates for acceptances/rejections/etc.? Just wondering, because I've heard that all the schools/faculties are pretty much shutting down (and parents may need to stay home if they have children because those schools are canceled too), so I was thinking there may be some sort of delay? I hope not, but I also don't know when the universities officially make their decisions/submit them to ORPAS.
  8. This is also my second year applying! Last year I applied but I feel like it was a complete waste since I barely had the grades. Since then, I took some additional courses and also re-took some prereq courses. Like @SpeechPlease said above, I never stopped and I made sure I gave 100%. I also spent the year getting into research with neuro-imaging and schizophrenia (nothing related to speech really, but I took what I could get!). I also did more volunteering but made sure it was a variety - so I originally had experience with ASD/other development kiddos, but I expanded and ended up volunteering in feeding studies/videofluroscopy labs, a clinic for augmentative commmunication, private practise, and therapeutic swimming and equestrian camps along side an SLP, OT, and PT. On another note, your application may be fantastic, but it mostly depends on the cohort of the year (how many people apply, their applications, etc). I know that we're all smart and we all deserve to get in, and it's frustrating when our application is amazing, but there's always going to be somebody out there who has a couple grades higher than us, or more experience. Hope this helped!
  9. Does anyone know the gpa cutoff for the Mcmaster interview? I didn't hear anything from them, so I'm going to say that I didn't make it lol. Or do you think they are still sending out interview invitations?
  10. I'm in the exact same boat - ORPAS doesn't differentiate between semesters, so they ended up dipping into my third year to finish off the 20 courses, I didn't realize that so what I thought was a 3.73 sgpa ended up being a 3.64, which is so disheartening. I had good grades in that year, but I had one awful grade which just plummeted my SubGPA. I guess there is a point where you can always take more courses but spend thousands of dollars trying to erase bad marks.
  11. I think the MMI cutoff was a 3.77 sGPA last year! I’d like to think there’s hope of it going down this year, but it seems like every year the GPA scores for every school gets higher and higher
  12. I called ORPAS and apparently that isn't our Sub-GPAs! They get posted later on in February and ORPAS sends out an email! The lady on the phone said to not worry about the number since it'll be a different one when the sub-GPAs actually get posted later on!
  13. Hi, how did you go about applying to Queen's? I thought they didn't have a Speech program!
  14. Does anyone know when or how we are able to see our calculated sub-GPA?
  15. I think you can put "IPR" for "in progress" as the grade for the prereqs. They will see on your transcript that you are taking those courses in the winter semester. I know someone who has gotten a 'conditional offer' because she was taking some prerequisites that were in progress during the time that the application was due!
