Hi! Sorry about this. I can imagine how you must be feeling. I think the outbreak also has a role to play in this. I’ve heard from two different programs (this week) that they won’t be pulling anyone from the waitlist because they’ve been asked to not make any more funded offers. Since I’ve already accepted a better offer, it didn’t make much of a difference to me. But what if it did? Surely, this isn’t right! Why are academic fund cuts such an easy decision to make?

Awesome. Thanks guys! By when does one find out the courses that are going to be offered to us? Oh and I know I sound like an insufferable nerd here, but trust me, I just love making plans! I’m only going to accomplish like 5% of it! Best case scenario. and now that I’m thinking about it, maybe I just like to make myself feel bad about all the things I should be doing instead! ? well, whatever! ??‍♀️ Anyway, thanks guys! I guess language acquisition shouldn’t have to wait till I join the program. And good tip about saving monies! Although with an international conference next month, I’ll have to begin from scratch. ?

Hey! (To the current students and others) Based on your experiences, how would advise someone to use their time before graduate school? As in, how can we prepare ourselves better for what lies ahead? Some essential reading or something? Thanks!

I just want to add that the reason I’m so fond of this forum (apart from the admission updates obviously) is because unlike the rest of the internet, the mask of anonymity does not bring out the trolls within us. I’ve only ever perceived it as a positive space. And that, folks, is something! When I read @caffeinated applicant’s post yesterday, I just kept looking at the screen for a few minutes at least. It captured everything I had felt last season, and everything I had struggled to suppress ever since. A few days ago, I couldn’t access the website because of server issues for around 10 mins, and I legit freaked out. I truly value this space. Let’s just actively try and keep it the way it has always been: POSITIVE, SUPPORTIVE, EMPATHETIC.

Waitlisted at Virginia. There’s another one (not me yet) on the results board. Will probably take myself off the CUNY waitlist in the next couple of days.

Hmmm... ? So what happens if you haven’t heard from Michigan yet? HOPE! The kind of possibilities that I’m conjuring up! Maybe Brown will send their final acceptances this week. Maybe they can only inform 1-2 people everyday! Maybe I won’t get in anywhere, and then I’ll get an offer from Harvard! How this messes up with our heads! How we let it!
