We had recorded lectures that we had to watch, but I don't remember there being readings (if there were, I clearly did not do them haha!). Everything was at our own pace, we even did the quizzes whenever we felt like it, as long as you finished them by the deadline. Assignments had due dates as well. Everything was flexible enough that if I had one week where I was too busy to get everything done, I was able to work ahead of the suggested schedule beforehand if I wanted to. The only thing that was scheduled was the midterm and the final, and you get like a 2-day window to write it whenever works best for you. Bear in mind you should budget a decent amount of time for the lecture videos, they can be long.
    Hope this all helps!

I got accepted to the U of A!! Last year I was waitlisted and felt so discouraged. If you don’t get accepted this year, just keep trying and don’t give up!

I just checked my email and I got accepted!!! I agree, it's slowly hitting me and I'm in shock. I also got asked to update some transcript and to check the portal to see if I can do that. My portal still says pre-screeing and that my application status is pending still.
Congratulations to everyone who got in!!! I can't wait to meet all of you this fall! And to everyone else, there's still hope!
    Cheers

@SpeechLP2020 and @EagerSpeechie2019 thanks so much for your replies! I wasn't sure how that worked so it's a relief to know that if I do get waitlisted I'll know right away.
My guess is that some people do just apply for the program without actually meeting the admissions criteria, and they know it but figured may as well try anyways?
Holy! That's a long time to wait to get a formal letter. Thanks for the info, and I've got my fingers crossed for you this round!
Also, for everyone here going crazy like I am waiting, congratulations on all your hard work in these applications! While we don't have any control over what might happen in the future, know that you've really done the best that you were able to. My personal best included okay grades, many meltdowns, sending everything in last minute, and nothing close to the "perfect" that I wanted it to be. But it was honestly the best that I could manage and I'm proud of accomplishing it! You should all give yourself a pat on the back for doing the same! Best of luck to everyone
    Cheers

Hey! I'm curious if you received a notification that you were waitlisted and when you found that out? Do they send out letters to everyone on the waitlist as soon as the quota is filled? I applied to U of A for the first time, but to be honest I have a feeling I'll be waitlisted too. I'm going a little crazy having to wait and not being able to plan out if I have to move to Edmonton or not!
When I attended the admissions session at U of A's oasis conference this question was answered! Vicki said that typically there are 170 applicants each year. Someone also asked how many of those applications were serious. She seemed kinda hesitant to answer that so her answer might just be her own estimate, but she said about 90.
    Cheers

Hey @whalezie! I haven't taken that course yet either. I actually went to the U of A's oasis conference last month where they had a panel about the application process, and that question got asked. Vicki mentioned that the Indigenous course isn't required as part of the application package, it's only required before starting the program. Good luck to you on your applications!
Does anyone know if McGill has a list of specific prereq courses (that has course names and numbers) that are accepted from the different universities across Canada? And do they look at the GPA of your entire undergrad or just the subGPA?
    Cheers!
