  1. Big congratulations to you! I can really feel your excitement from your post. Their cohort-based curriculum, similar to UNC, seems to be interesting and great as well! Cheers!
  2. Hi @PublicHealth2020grad! I got mine Monday morning here/Sunday evening ET. I would like to say that they did a great job in terms of matching with supervisors. I am thrilled to meet them. Regarding your question, I would agree that the distinction is blurring more and more but for me, I have a firm resolve that I wanted to get a DrPH over a PhD since I wanted to work on the translation side. While I did consider applying for a PhD program with a related concentration, I am convinced that Implementation Science jives better with a DrPH over a PhD. When I was doing my MPH in Sydney, I got an opportunity to continue to a PhD but I opted to defer because I believe that there is a bigger need for people who would translate the evidence at the grassroots... People with balanced research technical and managerial/leadership skills... Hence DrPH was a more logical and strategic option for me. Another important consideration is the potential for network expansion. Post-grad is not only about studying but rather it is more about creating professional networks. I believe this is where a good school, like JHSPH, would have a big advantage. Lastly, the opportunity cost of doing a full-time program versus a part-time program is also an important consideration. There is value in forwarding both your academic and professional careers at the same time especially in public health but admittedly, it could come with a heavy price in terms of work load and finances (especially for those coming in a developing country setting). At the end of the day, it's what you wanted to do out of the degree. A degree is not the end goal but rather a mean to an end.
  3. I haven't got mine as well. They told me earlier that since they are transitioning to a work from home arrangement, they would be able to send all concentration letters latest on Monday.
  4. Hi, I haven't heard from JHU DrPH too. Aside from the evolving COVID19 situation, I spoke to a current DrPG student (with the same ImpSci concentration) and I think this could be another cause of delay. While she praised a lot of aspects of the program, she was honest in telling me that "...Hopkins needs to hire more administrative support for the DrPH program, (and they are aware of this)..." I hope the release of the letters won't get delayed that much especially for you guys on such situation!
  5. Hi @DrPH2025/Mike, I am sorry to hear your situation. To respond to your post, I am an international applicant from the Philippines with qualifications of BSc Nursing and MD (PHL), MBA (regional asian school), dual MPH and MHM (AUS). I finished with latin honors and my translated MPH/MHM GPA is 4.0. GRE is average - verbal 85s, quant and writing of 65s. TOEFL of 114/120. In terms of research, I only have one co-authored paper plus some technical reports for bilateral/multilateral agencies. In terms of experience, I do have 6 years of cumulative progressive public health experience especially focusing on various implementation science components in the last 1.5 years. I lead and co-founded two firms - an NGO focusing on community healh innovations with a strong implementation science M&E framework and the first Health Technology Assessment (HTA) firm in our country to respond to the big need posed by our new UHC law. I am/was also very active in public health leadership and advocacy in PHL, AUS, and developing Southeast Asia. I feel like my leadership experiences were key for my acceptance. Furthermore, I also discussed my potential implementation science dissertation topic (and the subjects in the curriculum that would help me do it) in the context of my current work engagements. Don’t lose hope! There’s a beauty in applying the second time around. Based on previous forums, people got in after reapplying. Stay positive and build your experience. Always remember that they assess our applications holistically. All the best! Cheers, Jace
  6. Congratulations @PublicHealth2020grad!!! ?
  7. Thanks @SrirachaC ! I have been randomly updating the portal. I last checked an hour ago and I just saw this in the last 15 minutes. It has been keeping me awake. I am based in Manila, the Philippines and it is past 3AM. -.-
  8. Hi Everyone, Please check your JHSPH application portal. They have updated mine. Just like everyone, I have been eagerly waiting for this... Especially that I only applied for JHU for DrPH in Implementation Science. Good luck!
  9. Hi everyone! I am Jace from the Philippines. I am happy to find this thread and it is very helpful. I am looking into applying into blended/distance DrPH programs. JHU’s DrPH in Implementation Science and LSHTM’s DrPH are my top two choices. I have just submitted my application for the former via SOPHAS. Good luck to everyone who has submitted their application! Let’s hope for the best! ??????
