Hi! I'm also waiting to hear back from Dalhousie. I applied with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a Major in Criminology and a Minor in Counselling and Human Development. I had a B-/B average in my last 60 credits.
In my application, I included my time working in a Youth Services office that helps families and youth. The office offers guardianship, child protection, youth justice services, and I've been in this position for one and half years. I mostly assist with clerical work, but there's a lot of program work involved also when helping social workers, and probation officers. Before that I use to work for a Women's Centre that helped women, and children fleeing from violence. I mostly provided short-risk assessments, and resources to women. I also had volunteer experience as a Youth Ministry Coordinator for about 5 years, and other volunteer experience such as fundraising for/working with the poor and homeless.
I've applied to UVIC also, and I just heard back from them today. Thankfully they offered me admission, and now I'm just waiting for Dalhousie to get back to me so that I can weigh out my options. But I'm super excited, and I hope we hear back soon.
My long term goal is to work in health care social work or gerontology social work, so fingers crossed I do well so that I can apply for my MSW in the future. Good luck!!Good luck to you! Sounds like you have a lot of meaningful experience!

Hey! Thanks for sharing your stats. Sounds like you have a lot of experience! I don't know anyone else that has applied. Also, UofT is competitive. It's awesome that you got waitlisted. Did you apply to any other master's programs?
Thanks, no just the MSW at UofT! Dal is my only hope! Have you applied to any other programs?

Anyone waiting on dalhousie's bsw decision in May? We could share stats and experience to make it easier for people who are applying next year.
I have a completed Bachelors degree with a 3.0cgpa, a 3.25L60 (last 60 credits), and a 3.55L30.
I have 1 year volunteer experience in mental health and 6 years of experience volunteering in a hospital. I currently volunteer in a women's shelter but it's only been for about 4 months.
Hey! I have also applied and waiting for May!! I am curious how competitive the program is. I have a B- in my last 60 credits. Almost 5 years working in a social work capacity and various volunteer experiences. I am so nervous about my GPA but hopefully my experience will make up for it. I have been waitlisted at UofT for the MSW so I am really hoping I get in so I can move this process along hahah.
Do you know many others who have applied?

I'm sorry to hear that! Who did you email and what did they say?
I emailed Todd. He said "'Ive inquired about the status of your application and can report, unofficially, that your application to the MEd program will be recommended for refusal. Unfortunately, with 702 applications for 35 spots this year, there is not enough spaces to accommodate all strong applicants. You should receive the official application response via email very soon."
-
I have been unofficially rejected. All the best to those who are starting the program in the fall and to those on the next application cycle!

Thanks, good to know

Has anyone moved off the waitlist? Or will this happen in June?

Hi everyone, has everyone received a decision? I am still under review ?
-
I am also assuming rejection. Thanks to everyone for the support over the year! If psychotherapy is your end goal remember you can complete a MSW and practice psychotherapy! There are other options! Don't lose hope.
-
Congrats to all who got in! Is anyone declining their acceptance to UofT 2 year MSW? Also, has anyone spoken to Angela about how many people are waitlisted? Thanks!

I'm emailing them tonight. I was hoping to get answer this week because I have several things depending on whether I'm accepted for September, some that need to be decided by the end of this week. Also, I think I'll be putting in my email how I feel about their lack of consideration for us in not emailing us with these updates.
This is so frustrating. Fingers crossed I get a response before the end of the week.
Let us know what they say please. I hope they respond to you asap.

Yup! Are you on the waitlist as well?
Congrats!! No, still waiting. Not trying to be doubtful but they have sent out acceptances, and waitlists..probably means a rejection on my end but my app is still under review!
You could email them and ask how many people are waitlisted, so you have a better idea.
