What I've done is familiarized myself with the methods the mentor seems to use frequently and the types of measures they typically use (survey, psychophys, interview, fMRI, cognitive tasks, etc) and come up with a couple of ideas synthesizing my research interests with those methods. I'd air on the side of thinking about a couple of broad study ideas and being willing to think on the fly or riff on ideas your PI might bring up. Most probably won't expect you to have all your measures sorted out, but you should probably have somewhat of an idea what you could use if they ask. For example, if you wanted to look at anxiety symptoms, would you want those assessed via interview, self-report, by gathering physiological measures like heart rate, or some other way? If self-reported, would you want to look at EMA or retrospective report? As long as you have a baseline knowledge of what you're talking about and are familiar with their research style (which you should have already if you made it to an interview!) you should be fine after a little bit of prep. Some people don't ask this question at all! But if they do, I've found it helpful to have a couple loosely fleshed-out questions prepared and to be willing to be creative in the moment.

UMass Boston sent out an email for Clinical PhD saying that interview invites will continue to go out through 2/7, and if you don't get one by 2/7, you should assume rejection. There's still time!

    Heeellllooooooooooo,
First of all- schools don't do pity invites. They have far too many qualified applicants to waste a spot on someone they're not interested in. So, I'm pretty sure they're interested in you, and that's awesome!!
As for your other feelings, I 10000000% understand. I have applied twice now (this is round 3) where I didn't get it. The first year, I didn't get any interviews. My parents and all my friends were so confident I'd get in and it felt like the bottom had dropped out of my world, especially when I had to tell people. BUT. They loved me, as I'm sure your friends and family love you, and they just wanted to support me. No one felt let down or like I had failed them, and when I explained how difficult this process is and the acceptance rates, they were EVEN MORE supportive.
As for continuing with this path, are you passionate about it? Do you love it? Can you imagine yourself doing anything else? If you're not 100% in love with this career, it may be difficult to keep going, because rejection is everywhere, at every level. BUT if you truly want to do this, the rejection is worth it, even if it takes a little time to get where you want to go! Most everyone does not get in their first round, so don't write yourself off because of that.
From a girl who laid on the floor and cried because I didn't get in last cycle and it really hurt, it does get better, if you want it to and you work for it. Feel free to PM if you wanna talk more!

Not sure if you've gotten an answer yet, but for one of mine I reached out to the grad assistant first by phone to inquire about timeline, and she was the one who encouraged me to reach out to my individual POI. I then said that in my email, mentioned by excitement about the program, and recognized that they were likely busy and stressed but would love some clarity about the admissions timeline

For those of you who have contacted your POI to find out admission status, how have you phrased it?

Drexel interviews are Feb 14th, social event on the 13th. I heard from them last week, don't know if they're still inviting.
Someone at the UConn psych department said the interview invites will likely be going out by today (1/14) to allow for travel arrangements-- interview dates are 1/29 or 1/31. Still haven't heard from them though

For those of you waiting to hear from UConn, this is the reply I received: It is my understanding that faculty are in the process of inviting applicants. Most (but not all) invitations have been extended at this point. Faculty will most likely extend all invites by January 14th to give at least two weeks for travel plans.
    Hope this helps! Good luck!
