Try broadening your search to more than just bipolar disorder. A lot of PI's are into more transdiagnostic approaches, so it has been common to study psychosis spectrum related disorders like schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar, and major depression together in the same grant. There's a consortium group that focuses on Cognitive Neurocomputational Task Reliability & Clinical Applications that is running an EEG study on that transdiagnostic population-- hope this helps! Other than that, what the other poster said is super valid too. Familiarize yourself with the literature and what topics interest you the most and you'll start seeing names popping up over and over or being cited a bunch. Anyone know the stats on how many people in the psychology field get the Ford Fellowship? I applied but felt like there were no resources on how to have a competitive application so it felt like a shot in the dark.

Anyone else get their soul crushed when a potential PI talks about how they are SURE you have SO many offers and that they think you have an amazing career ahead of you...but then reject you? I know it's them trying to be nice, but when the reality is that I have no firm offers, it just adds insult to injury when they are asking me to contact them when I "decide where I'm going".

I talked to a clinical faculty member over the phone on Monday and she confirmed the date is March 6th.

It's general courtesy. No one tracks how many offers a person has. It's just a nice thing to do to make sure all applicants feel like this process is as fair as it can be (which is a hard task in general).

If the University of Rochester poster sees this, would you be willing to send me the initials of the PI you accepted an offer from? Congrats!!!

Best advice I got from grad students in my lab is to book through Southwest if possible. They have no cancellation fees and you just basically get credit in your account to book another flight through them in the next year and pay the difference. This only helps if there are reasonable flights through Southwest for you and the area you're going to/coming from, but something to think about!

For anyone wondering about UNC Chapel Hill, I was formally invited to their interview weekend (which is Feb 7) and the email from the director said that the last day they are sending out invites is today!

I emailed the admissions at University of New Mexico and they are still reviewing applications but they said their interview date is March 6th

I also received an interview invitation for Wisconsin-Madison from my POI which was followed up by the director on 12/30. This was after a phone interview on 12/18
