    If you want federal aid, you need to fill out a FAFSA. Most schools use that information to determine need-based aid as well. Fill it out now and send SAIS an email that you did it.

    They should be able to consider you for merit-based aid based on the other parts of your application. I had not submitted my FAFSA in December and received a Dean's Scholarship in an award letter on December 20 when early students were admitted.

    The aid letter is a different letter. It will come from saisfinaidinfo@jhu.edu and does not appear in the portal.

    I think it would be appropriate. It could be short like this:
    "This is wonderful news. I look forward to receiving my official offer of admission later this month and responding once I have reviewed it and all my other academic options for the upcoming academic year."
    I was waitlisted, so I will probably write something similar. I wouldn't expect a reply, but it shows that you care as a candidate.

    Just got the email. On the waitlist. At least I'm in at SAIS and SIS. Only slightly disappointed. Congrats to everyone in though!
