I’ve heard the same! I’ve also heard what really matters is doing your phd and post doc at different institutions. They don’t really care about where you did your undergrad from what I’ve heard from POIs

I can attest to this. 2 POIs I applied to work with have also written my LORs.

Completely agree with this! At the beginning of my undergrad I thought I wanted to solely to clinical work, as I worked as a coordinator my love for research grew! Since then I've continuously tried to expose myself to different parts of the research process since I have an intrinsic interest for it!! I definitely feel that if I didn't take the time to ask questions (especially as a first generation student) I would have NO clue what was getting myself into. I am so happy I am on this path and can only pray that I have the opportunity to pursue the career I know I am purposed for!

I've presented my thesis, an extension of my thesis, my independent project, and another project I've helped with... I've also been a second/later author on some posters based on my contribution to the project

Thank you!! I have a lot of clinical research experience (examining therapy sessions).. I also have assessment training for suicide risk assessment, and some other assessment training (happy to chat backchannel). I've also communicated with participants with diagnostic disorders as a research coordinator for clinical trials. Your experience sounds great!!

I’m finishing off my 5th year currently & have the following .. any thoughts on if this is good/would be competitive to get in after my undergrad (aka for this cycle?): 2 pubs (one first author) 1 pub at revise and resubmit 5 pubs in prep 1 oral conference presentation 12 poster presentations 2 research coordinator/lab manager positions over 1 year -managed several projects (including clinical trials) 1 lab manager position for one semester 4 additional RA positions 1 honours thesis 3 independent research projects

Is anyone else having difficulty adding a 3rd organization for funding on the CGS-M application? I am wondering if I cannot submit for both OISE and UTSC?

Does anyone know what to write for UTSC... I cannot find out what faculty their Clinical Program is in?

Conferences can be peer reviewed too. Anything you have to submit an abstract for usually goes through a review process. The CPA annual conference is a good example of this

I believe we upload them.. there is no where for the institution to send them. I’ve been trying to figure this out for the past three weeks too

Unfortunately, most of the time they are not (e.g., any thesis poster conferences aren’t).

A committee at each school rates the proposals separately from your application. The people you apply to may be in the funding committee but not necessarily. You can think of funding apps and actual apps as two separate processes

Nope for the MA they understand that you have no idea where you’re going or who you’re going to be working with. Your CGS gets sent to multiple schools and you could theoretically apply to multiple profs at each school. So they don’t expect you to execute what you’ve outlined

I’ve heard your proposal doesn’t have to be about anything you plan to study. E.g., you can basically propose something in an entirely different area

I just learned that Mac doesn't know whos accepting bc they just accept the top like 5 students and then whoever those students fit best with they get to go with those profs..
