Definitely not a stupid question! I want to second what ashleyym said, in that I really don't think any program is necessarily easy. I think some programs are easier to get into for some people, depending on how much the particular program values/weights grades vs work experience vs research experience. For example I felt much better about my UofT app than Laurier app, because I knew quite a few people who had gotten in directly from undergrad without a tonne of direct experience, but with some research experience. Since I knew that Laurier was pretty upfront about putting a lot of emphasis on work experience (which I didn't have much of), I knew my application there wasn't as strong. Lots of people get into UofT and don't get into other schools and lots of people get into other schools and not UofT - it doesn't mean that some schools are necessarily easier to get into than others, but it does mean that some schools are a better fit for some people.
My advice would be to research the programs and see which ones are a better fit for you in terms of where your application will be strongest. I'm not sure if you're looking at 1y programs (and so already have a BSW), but my backup plan was applying to second-degree entry BSW programs. If you're really worried about getting into MSWs, a BSW is usually only one extra year of school altogether, and if you do the Waterloo one it ends up being almost the same amount. I don't know that it's necessarily easier to get in with a BSW, but the ratio is a little more in your favour.

Awe, your too sweet ♥️ Thank you so much for the vote of confidence. If anything happens I will be sure to post here, even if it's a few months from now ? Congraulations to everyone, accepted, waitlisted, and rejected. It takes a lot to complete the application and it took a lot from us all to even get to this point where we can apply for a masters. I am honestly so proud and full of love for you all! In the case you are not successful, this is not the end. You can try again or choose to pursue another path that may be better for you. Whatever you choose, I hope you continue to inspire and support the lives of other to the best of your ability.
    Stay kind ♥️

hi! So what I was told was if you email the MSW department and let them know that your transcript wont be available until end of August, they will adjust your offer letter to say that you need a letter by august 31st stating that you've completed your undergrad, and then you can submit your transcript by November 1st, but as I said, you have to let them know. This is the case for Laurier btw. Hope this helps

If you have an offer with conditions, it should tell you the deadline for those conditions to be met. For example, I received an email with additional information for next steps, as well as an acceptance confirmation page on LORIS telling me that I must submit my official transcripts prior to a specific date in June. You may want to get in direct contact with admissions of the school in question to work out whether they will accommodate your situation.

Hey, I cannot fully recall a minimum funding for every Carleton MSW, but in my acceptance letter they said they allocated funds based on availability and I Believe for TA/RA positions, its given to top 3 students with the highest marks, however anyone else can still apply to be a TA based on the 'outside priority application' criteria.
I also got into York and I am going to accept York as their funding was much more that Carleton, as you mentioned each students gets a minimum $10, 000 plus more based on GPA. They said that we could apply externally for TA/RA positions, plus right now based on the situation, I am not considering a move. Hope this helps

This is a funding question for folks going into Carleton's advanced standing MSW:
I know Carleton gives every student some funding upon offering them a place in their program. Is there a minimum amount of funding that every Carleton MSW student automatically receives? And is additional funding for students with higher grades? Is it attached to TA and RA positions?
I got into York and I'm starting to lean towards it because the tuition is HALF the cost of Carleton (based on fee calculator). York also gives each 1 year MSW student (not sure about 2 year) $10,000 in funding plus extra if they have a higher GPA. Funding is not attached to a Teaching Assistant/ Research Assistant position.
Any specific info would be much appreciated!

I've heard from the grapevine that Ryerson is doing everything completely online and even placements are remote. As for York, they did send out an email that they are going to try and do in-person learning so what I am guessing is that smaller graduate programs might have in person? I seriously can't even imagine any 1st/2nd/3rd year undergrads going in person when class sizes are 300 plus. Or even the BSW program - we had about 30-40 students per course and classes were already so crammed with no space to "social distance."
Personally, I really struggle with virtual learning vs in the classroom and didn't get to experience an in-person placement but the virtual aspect has had some conveniences for me, such as I am able to walk my daughter to and from school everyday without doing a before/after program.
If Ontario is still in this same position (which I'm presuming it will be) I feel like it'll most likely be virtual classes with the option for in-person placements (for York anyway). Sending everyone love and balance ❤️

Hey All! I just wanted to share some information I got from York about admissions. They said that this year for the 2-year MSW there were 480 applicants (they accept 20), and for the Advanced there were 320 applications (they accept 40). I don't know when they will make the offers for the 2-year but they are rolling out the advanced offers now.

I got an acceptance on myfile, never got a call. From my understanding Pip calls people of more documentation is needed not to notify people that they got accepted.

Yeah same, no call. I just realized Pip is a person and not a service or system. I didn’t get an email either, I just checked myfile on a whim and saw the acceptance. I’m super curious about scholarship info though and what next steps are.

Got a call from Pip to send in my official transcripts before they could proceed on an offer of admission. I applied for the advanced standing stream. Because it's not official, nothing has changed on MyFile etc. Congrats to everyone!
