Hi there. Thanks so much for that info! It was a bit surprising to me, too, that they do not negotiate FA (it is stated specifically on the FA form). If there is anyone who cna speak to that about WUSTL, please reach out! Thanks again and good luck to you too

Hello! Any update on how this worked out for you? I am considering appealing the FA I received from WashU and I am curious to find out how it went. I just received an email back from the FA office stating that they do not negotiate FA based on awards from other schools. I am wondering if that is the case at other schools. Best of luck to you!

Hi all, I have a bit of a different question. Is anyone considering deferring (due to covid or any other reasons really)? Does anyone know how leniant MSW programs generally are in allowing that? I do get a little nervous thinking that classes might still be some kind of hybrid structure for the first year, and that isn't the most ideal learning environment for me. I just wanted to pick your brains! ? Congrats to everyone who has received acceptances and best of luck to those waiting for responses!

I hear ya!! Well I will post an update if I do hear anything. And yes I would certainly not worry! I'm sure it won't affect their decision, but maybe just affect their time in responding.

Yes I applied for Fall 2021 on campus 2 year program. I must have submitted the application sometime in October or November. I have not decided yet. I applied for a Coverdell Fellowship as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and I have yet to hear back about that decision! Hopefully I'll have made a decision in a month or 2. Hope that helps and good luck to you!

Hey there. So I did reach out to her and I really didn't get much information. I received an email from the financial aid office separately and was advised that I had tasks to do on my portal "to do" list, but when I went to check the tasks, the documents weren't ready on their end. It is something called the Social Work Financial Aid addendum. So I've just been checking in periodically to see when they are ready! I hope that helps. Let me know if you find out any additional info. And congrats to you too!!

Awesome! I hope everything is going well for you I applied late September. I know they have rolling admissions and I was told I would hear back about 4-6 weeks after applying, which was true in my case. Thanks for the advice! I will reach out to her

Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well with the applications and congrats to those who have received acceptance letters. I was recently accepted to the Tulane MSW on campus program. Does anyone have have any information regarding their financial aid? The aid office hasn't been super helpful recently. I know their offices have been closed on and off due to the hurricanes unfortunately. Anyone with connections to the program or with information on how generous they are with aid? Thanks!

Thanks for your response and input. I was a MA at a cardiology practice. Although the practice didn't specifically cater to marginalized populations, we treated patients from all walks of life. Cardiac disease doesn't discriminate. I guess I am just worried that it isn't what they are specifically looking for but I can definitely make it work. I have quite a bit of volunteer experience with the Peace Corps, so I should be okay in that arena. Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone! Is anyone on this thread applying to UC Berkeley's MSW program? I have a question regarding the experience required for admission. I have worked as a Medical Assistant and had direct patient care but I am not sure if that would be acceptable experience. I have other experience that I know for a fact would be accepted, but I'm questioning if I should even bother including MA experience on my resume. The definition for the type of social work experience they are looking for is: We are looking for experience working directly with and on behalf of people and communities in need, including those experiencing social and emotional distress, vulnerable or marginalized populations, and those who are historically under-served. Is anyone else in a similar situation and wondering what to include?

Thanks for the response @LML2021 and good to know. And of course. I planned on applying to 8+ because I am hoping to land a Coverdell fellowship as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. There are a lot of MSW programs that partner with the Peace Corps, but they only give fellowships to a few (2-5) RPCVs each year, so I figured I would apply to several with the hopes of landing one!
