  1. Yes, POWERPREP is CAT the same as the real test. And it looks exactly like the real test, too.
  2. I meant - during the last five MINUTES of course
  3. There must have been some glitch in your POWERPREP. It must show you the time or hide it when you press the TIME button. You will definetely know time during the test - don't worry!!! You can hide the time indicator all the time except during the last five minutes. If it was hidden all the way through the test, when you have only five minutes left the time indicator will appear by itself. It will also blink a bit for you to notice.
  4. I am not an expert in musicology, but your research plan sounds very interesting! I am sure that if you explain it well in your SOP and prepare a computer model to show adcomms as a research sample, somebody WILL fund your project. There are a lot of exotic projects being funded - you just need to present it to universities in an appealing way I don't think that your quant score will pose any problem. Good luck!!
  5. Oh, your last verbal-quant score is the mirror reflection of mine, which is 720 quant and 640 verbal! I do not think that in German studies they will care much about quant anyway! You are going to continue your studies - does it mean that you are reapplying to the same department? Do you need GRE for that?
  6. I am glad to have been a help to you!
  7. Are you looking for this? http://www.temple.edu/grad/admissions/documents/WebGRADREFERENCEREPORT.pdf
  8. Well, from my point of view it does not look good... Quant may be ok for some schools, but verbal is definetely too low. Are you an international student?
  9. I did not have it on my actual test.
  10. Well, of course it does not relate only to international studens It is just that they are more likely to use express-delivery than local studens because the latter live closer to universities and don't have to worry about regular post problems so much. If I send my transcrips via the regular post it will take my letters around three weeks to get to universities and there are a lot more chances for them to get lost on the way because the journey is so long. That it why I am definetely going to use FedEx
  11. Hi! If you are an international student and are going to use a package delivery company (i.e. FedEx, UPS, DHL) - you must know that some universities have a special address for that purpose!!!!! Being an international student myself, I have found it out purely by chance. This address is slightly different from the one on their website. So you must ask them - just in case. I don't know what happens if you use the wrong address, may be nothing particularly terrible, but it's better to be on the safe side... Good luck!
  12. Nono, I mean, I thought all places require you to submit the application before the emails to the recommenders are sent out
  13. Actually I thought that it always happens this way. Do you mean that in some instances I can send out notifications (through on-line application software) without submitting the application itself?
  14. Thanks everybody for the information and advice!
  15. All schools I am going to apply to have this system where you apply on-line and indicate who your recommenders will be and their e-mails. I was wondering if after I submit the on-line application they receive notifications immediately. Letters to them are sent automatically, right? I very much hope so...
  16. You can try but I am not sure they will be interested. ETS is a big company unable to track down all minor things like that. When I was registering for TOEFL I noticed that in the list of cities of my country they put my city twice with different spellings and for each of these "different" cities there were dates I could choose from and these dates were slightly different! It was really confusing. So I wrote them a letter about that. They adviced me to contact their regional center, call to Norway or something - very strange... Anyway, I contacted them in June and the mistake is still there!!!! It's really funny What I want to say is - I don't think they will notice your letter They are toooooooo busy counting our money
  17. If they get your scores before you apply (send the application form and other materials), they will match them, don't worry. So you do not need to send again your scores to the schools that you have chosen during the test.
  18. You definetely must learn words and I would recommend reading more authors who use GRE vocabulary! It's much easier to learn words when you see them in the context.
  19. Well, that's strange. When I took the official POWERPREP practice test downloaded from the official GRE website there was no range (and it was a month ago). My score had been something like 620 verbal and 720 quantitive and it turned out to be quite close to my real results.
  20. What do you mean with "range"? You took the practice test once, right?
  21. You definetely can take GRE in other countries. Don't give up!
  22. Try POWERPREP, the official software to prepare you for GRE. You can download it from the GRE website for free. Tests in this program are exactly as the real test, down to the background colour and font. You can see reading comprehension tasks there - texts remain on the screen while you are answering questions about them and you definetely can scroll. Good luck!
  23. I don't know if it will help... First of all you must be well prepared, of course, and you must be able to assess the level of your knowledge well. Do not underestimate yourelf. When I was nervous, but I knew that I was prepared, I just told myself a simple thing: "I will do it because I can". It is so simple that it seems useless, but actually it is all you need to know. Visualize your past "moments of glory", something you are really proud of, and think that it was you who made it all happen. If you did that, it means you can do a lot more! You can do it not because of random luck, but because YOU CAN DO IT.
  24. I agree that GRE is not a good indicator of one's skills and knowledge. If you have a great portfolio and credentials, for many schools they may be more imortant than a high verbal score. You can also try to ask schools directly. If you have been in contact with professors you can address this question to them or you might send an e-mail to graduate coordinators.
  25. I see you are not getting many replies here Check out this LJ community and the following thread (about Master's degrees, by the way): http://community.liv...html?style=mine
