It’s because every email is personalized with the conditions/ remaining pre preqs, if applicable, for every applicant! Audi is only 12 letters to write and send out, so I’d assume it gets done first as it’s smaller than the 36 for SLP! I share your angst over the wait though ? Just figured I’d assuage the concern

Not September, but early August! On their website it says "The recommended course is the Indigenous Canada MOOC for certificate due by August 1 of the admission year." (ignore the italics, I can't figure how to remove them from the text)

Can you take your time with it (can I start it now, then get really into it after my courses end in April) or is it on a schedule?

In addition to what @DreamingofSpeechlinked to, for the non-Ontario schools I believe for U of A Vicki mentioned 200 on some years and for this year it was closer to 250. I believe McGill gets around 300 (they have a 10% acceptance rate and a class size of ~30?). UBC has 150-200 on their website FAQ, but I believe they have numbers as high as ~250 in some info session presentations. No idea for Dal, sorry!

I’m so sorry to hear that. You had quite competitive stats and I’m surprised you didn’t get in! I wonder if CASPer (an element we don’t see the stats for) played a role? Also, did your application focus on the EDI aspects?

From what I understand is at the moment the acceptance is a recommendation for admission, and there’s a formality of the Faculty of Graduate Studies running through and checking transcripts to make sure everything’s legit and such. That’s why some applicants received notice to upload updated transcripts, as this is a necessary step prior to official admission. My guess is you can accept once the official admission is received!

I don't think it was that late (at least for me), I had my admission letter by 11am Edmonton time, and the portal message was a little earlier. So it was in the morning, I would say. I'm guessing they have 9-5 hours? But it definitely is a different kind of year! So much is not the same, and I think to add they're sending them out individually and that's taking tons of time. I do wonder if they chose to send the letters out to the people who needed to submit updated transcripts first (like myself), so as to allow the transcripts a few days (the weekend) to send to them. That way, when they submit the recommendations for admission to the FGSR, applicants like myself don't stall the process? Just a guess! Maybe that's why you're receiving later notice - they just need less work to submit your papers? At any rate, for now sit tight, you got this. Please enjoy the spring break with your kiddos! I'm feeling like quality time next year when you're in a program will be quite scarce!

Not yet! I received a message through the applicant messages section to submit some documents, and that they'll email me my letter (which they did). I guess the portal takes a while to update!

Thank you so so much. This is my first acceptance, as McGill and McMaster were both no-go's. Yes!! I'd be happy to, I'm going to private message you right now.

Keeping y'all who didn't get in company, I got my refusal email as well. It's okay, y'all. We gave it our best shot! Hopefully the other schools will come in with some good news

For those of you applying to U of A not currently living in Edmonton, do you plan to live on Res or rent off-campus?

Yes, from what I know is it's very initial at the moment, and it will be until April before we find out

My UBC application still only says "Submitted", however about a week or so ago I received an email from the Graduate advisor inquiring about a component relating to my residency (I have a sort of unique situation), so it seems like they're in the process of pre-screening, checking my documents for stuff like that. For McGill, my status is "In Review", and U of A "Under Review". For McMaster, I did not make it to the next round. Just wanted to give you all an idea of where some applications at various places are at!

I think this was more relevant when MMIs were strictly in-person in Hamilton, I’d assume having to make the trek over there for some people gave room for last minute cold feet

I don't see this on mine -- but I did upload syllabi for my non-approved courses. Strange it's showing up for you if all yours are approved!
