Their website says around 120-150, but I’ve seen a presentation of theirs say 150-200 (and this is for both audiology and SLP, so the real SLP number is a little lower)

Great to hear from both of you! I appreciate you thisislife15 knowing you too are in the same situation. I feel grateful for the community I’ve found in this forum! Thank you coco_slp’s for your elaboration on the reasoning why they might be doing that. It seems inevitable that some people will be advantaged and disadvantaged no matter the calculation method, so now that I have the frustration out of my system the levelheaded side of me say: okay, fair enough. ? Hope you’re all hanging in there!

I’m really sad by the averaging of the year instead of just averaging semesters. Disappointing way to discredit progress in later semesters

I was wondering if anyone knew for the 125 invited to do McMaster MMIs, if some decline, do they have a waitlist for potentially more than the 125 to be invited? Or is it 125 max, and whoever wants to do the MMI makes it to the next round?

Same, I keep checking on here because it's the only place there's any "new updates" on (seeing the discussions amongst all of you!) Thankfully I do have some courses ongoing at the moment to keep me somewhat busy. If it helps keep any of you calm, one way to think of it is we are going to have our hands very, very full when grad school comes around. So try and enjoy the time you have now, and make the most of the present. What are things you like to do, that you might not always have the time for during grad school? Try to do them now (if it's safe to do them during the pandemic).

"Admission to our M.Sc.A. program is highly competitive and only a small number of outstanding students are admitted (approximately 10% of our applicant pool)" Only thing I found!

From what I remember, the timer starts immediately. It's a bit of a rush, but if you can up your typing speed you should be good to go

Yes, the U of T B+ requirement is firm (source: went to their info session). Fortunately, they accept an increased/upgraded course grade if you retake courses with a grade lower than this (source: their FAQ). McMaster has a B requirement, and I would say this is also firm as they don't require LORs or anything else in the initial application but those grades and your transcript. So it would make sense the grades are used to weed people out, but I'm just inferring. UBC, McGill, U of A, Western etc. afaik all don't have a grade minimum grade. Hope this helps!

I haven't applied before, but you sound like an incredible candidate and I think anything you want in life is worth a shot. I know the possibility of rejection is terrifying, but if you've invested all the energy you could, then you have to be honest about your expectations for yourself. You can only control your own end - what you do - and if you do your best, you've done your part. We are all proud of you nonetheless! So many people don't even try. It's worth a shot

Thank you so much! Also, if any of you are having trouble uploading materials, this is apparently a common problem with the U of A portal. I reached out to Web Admin for support, and they helped resolve this issue

Hi everyone, for U of A, I was wondering if anyone could please tell me the order of documents for the Department Checks? None of them are indicating which Department Check # corresponds to which (e.g. if Department Check 3 is for the GRE score document, etc). All of mine are saying "Statement"

Hi everyone! Does anyone know where to find out what each individual Department Check refers to? Nearly every single one I've clicked says "Statement"... And on that matter, very weird but my statement (PDF format) says 100% uploaded then is nowhere to be found in the checks (it should be showing up in the Department Check 2) I'd appreciate your help if anyone knows! Thanks so much in advance. Happy early 2021!

Hi everyone - I'm worried I've made a mistake. I submitted my University of Alberta application with only my transcripts, as I read in the instructions that we only needed to upload transcripts to submit. I also asked during the OASIS conference how I can upload my GRE score, and she said I can do that after submission. I was under the impression we can upload all the other documents, like CVs and Career Statements after submission? If anyone has already submitted, do you know if and how you can upload these documents after submission?

I didn’t see this section for McMaster on ORPAS- do you think it’s because you’re applying to different programs?

Hi Malithi, for some programs there isn’t much to do in terms of preparation (McMaster doesn’t need anything beyond your Pre-Reqs). You can look into this as an option. I think you have plenty of time, as some applications haven’t yet opened.

Question: For U of A, is it best to submit a mark that isn't too great (solid B), or better that I submit the grade from a course I'm taking in the winter that (it'll be in progress by the time applications are submitted)? In other words, is it better to choose the trade off of a lower pre-req GPA, but all courses completed OR have one course in progress, but potentially higher pre-req GPA in the end?

when to take prerequsities, low gpa
Wugs replied to Marciiiiiiiiiiiii's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I know U of A specifically said they prefer candidates to have completed pre-reqs, but one in progress in the Winter is usually fine. And I think you'd be a good shot for U of A Did you already take the CASPer test? You need that for both McGill and U of A. Also, I'd love to hear your tips on the GRE! -
Did you get any feedback on what you could improve?
