  1. Hi Guys! What sort of jobs could I potentially apply to that would make my application stand out for the next round of applications? I know SLP assistant is one of the main ones, but are there any other ones that would also look great on an application that deal with the field or even if they do not? Thank you in advance!
  2. Hi guys! I had a question in regards to the UofA and UBC applications (sorry if this has been asked before). So I didn't realize that you needed to had to upload transcripts yourself and I have ordered them, but they still have not arrived (which is setting me back on my initial application plans) I was wondering if I could upload unofficial transcripts right now and pay for the application so my references can get their emails and then be able to change it to the official ones once I receive them?!?! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Thank you for getting back to me! I have also emailed non.degree@ubc.ca and they told me that I had to contact the Audiology department directly. I am still waiting for a reply from the Audiology department so I shall see what happens. Other than that I check pretty much every day to see if I can reseter into the class. Thank you for this information though!!
  4. Hello Guys!! I want to wish good luck to everyone applying this year! I had a question in regards to UBC's SLP program. I am planning on taking AUDI 402 with them as an unclassified student to satisfy their anatomy prerequisite. I am currently enrolled at UBC as an unclassified student but cannot seem to enrol in the class. The class is not full (has 3 spots remaining) but it is unreleased (I also have no idea what this means). I have emailed many people and also left voicemails but have not heard back. If anyone here was or is currently enrolled in the class, how did you go about doing so? Any kind of help or information will be greatly appreciated! Pav
  5. I was a bit confused at first but now I get it! Time zones make everything a little bit trickier! Anyways I wish you good luck with your applications!!
  6. Ever since I found out we will know at midnight EST, I have been going back and fourth as to whether I will check that night or the morning. Although I go to bed at 10:00pm each night (I know I am a Grandma) so I could easily avoid checking. But I am not sure so we shall see!! I just have my fingers crossed that I get accepted! Good luck to you!!
  7. Hey! I want to say congratulations to all those who have received acceptances, it is well deserved. For those still waiting to hear back, hang on tight we got this. As April 1st is slowly creeping around the corner I'm both anxious and excited!! Since I live in BC I will most likely will find out my applications result at 9:00 pm PST on Wednesday, but I don't know if I'm the only one that's gonna do this, but I don't think I will check until Thursday morning. Mainly because no matter what the verdict is I will not sleep the night I check. Hopefully my curiosity doesn't get the better of me and I can hold off until the morning but I don't know at this point! Good luck to everywhere still waiting to hear back!! Pav!
  8. Hey all, As the verdicts to some of our applications role in, I am feeling the anxiety get to me. First I wanted to start off by congratulating those who have been waitlisted or accepted into McGill!! Now for those who have yet to hear anything such as me, my friend enlightened me with some consolations the other day that made me feel a lot better about things. She quoted some very wise words of Shakespeare to me "if it be not now, yet it will come". Although I know the quote is about death, when thinking about it out of context, if things do not go they way that you want them, do not forget that you can try again later. If you do not get in this year round, you may the next. I am sending good vibes to everyone here and I hope things go well for all of you! Pav!
  9. Hey! The fact that this program in any given University in Canada is very competitive makes me even more nervous at times! But, like you said there is always next year! I am sure you would be a wonderful student for the program and I wish you all the best in your application!!
  10. Hey that is great that you have a solid plan B! I have one too although its not as great. If things do not go as planned, I will work throughout the next year and get in more volunteering hours and try and better my GPA for the next round of applications. Its all I can really do. But with that being said, I believe life takes us where we need to be, so I tend not to worry about the outcome too much. I hope you get in, and who knows maybe our paths may cross in the future. I wish you the best of luck with your application!
  11. Hey! You are right, there is not much we can do about it now, but it is reassuring to know there are others in the same boat. Thank you so much! I'm sending some good luck your way too, I hope you get in to your desired University! Good luck!
  12. Hey all! I hope you all are doing well! Good luck to all those who have their MMI's! Just be yourself and do not stress too much! I was wondering if there was anyone else on this thread that for whatever reason was only able to apply to one University like me? I find not having any back ups to be very nerve-racking. So whether I get in or not determines my fate for the following year. My sGPA is 3.40 which is not the greatest (I had a really bad third year due to some personal circumstances) but I do not want to lose hope! I volunteer with a clinic currently and I have worked with 3 separate SLPS and all of them have said that they think I would be a great SLP! Which I guess is very encouraging!! So I hope Western can look past my sGPA and I hopefully get accepted! Now I know I just said that I am feeling the anxiety, but I will say that from what I have read about the others in this thread you all seem like very smart, kind and just over all great people! So try not to stress too much guys, and I wish you the best of luck in your applications and for the future! -Pav
  13. Hey guys, First off, I want to congratulate all those who have been offered Interviews for Mac! For those who did not there is still time so do not lose hope just yet. Also, we have yet to hear from all the other schools as well. I know its easier said then done because I too am feeling the anxiety and stress of the verdicts to my application get to me. But despite what the verdict is I need everyone here to remember that this does not define who you are. I know we get caught up in finishing school in a timely fashion and all these other things, but school is just one facet of our lives. So, if you do not get in this year please do not feel upset. This gives us more time to figure ourselves out and become better for the following year, I know its hard not to feel upset and defeated but I truly believe that we all have our own paths that we need to follow to get where we need to be. I know I am rambling on, but I know for a very long time I struggled with the uncertainty of where my life was heading and that I know a lot of you must be feeling the same way and it sucks. The constant worrying and nervous breakdowns all suck but worrying only means we suffer twice. So, try and relax and don’t forget to destress every now and then! I believe in us and we have got this!
  14. Hey, These are all so helpful to me as well! Thank you! I was however, wondering if a certificate program I took (like first-aid) for child safety in 2017 would be something to mention that would look good on the application? This is my first time applying and I am just second guessing every decision I make!
  15. Hello Everyone, I am also applying for the first time this year. I have a subGPA of 3.64 and I am planning to apply to UBC and Western. I would honestly prefer to be admitted into UBC as I live close to Vancouver, but I will take whatever I can get! I am super nervous reading through all these posts, you all seem so smart, accomplished and great and I'm starting to question whether my grades and application will be good enough! I decided to pursue SLP very last minute so I have didn't have any volunteer experience although I was planning on acquiring some this year (COVID totally ruined those plans). But, I am currently doing some virtual volunteering with a private clinic. I know Western has eliminated the clinical hours for this years application but I still felt like some exposure into the field would be helpful. This is all so overwhelming and I think I'm slowly loosing my mind! With that being said, I wish everyone good luck for their applications!
