you can always apply and choose to not go ..... I mean ask for a fee waiver and shouldn't waste you a lot of time... its much easier to handle the messy situation you are worried about -
I would say that is a dangerous question to ask... however, some program are willing to make some arrangement for you if you cant attend bc of some season scheduling or not... ask the coordinator again nothing is promised but really I think that is a dangerous question for you to ask

Yes, but I applied before the priority deadline with all the rec letter arrive before that. They have like three interviews sessions tho

very impressive profile. I would say if you get an interview definetely reach out to the professor you are interested in. also we have a computational and system biology thread not sure if it applies to you. but you seems very genetics and system/computational biology focused

BME and biomedical program are very different... a lot of engineering program don't require interview and their interview is more a formality and some programs don't have rotations.... I would suggest caution against the information you get here. -

From my communication with the admin is that if you don't here back from Penn within this week, its most likely a rejection. -
my interest is mainly comparative genomics and gene regulation but I also selected cancer genomics and quatitative system biology I think. I am not sure if they are done sending invites, but hope this helps. maybe they are still sending..Good luck buddy !!

not only public school man, any school with NIH training funding program limit themself to 5 domestic to 1 international students.. I know that feeling man trust me. This is my thrid cycle, and I still got rejected. I don't even have the courage to apply schools that I really like

I think Tri-I is a little too reachy for me， but I would through the roof if I got in there. UPenn GCB really hurts me badly today !!!

Usually its becasue international students will not be fly out. but I think this year is a little different. but if you look through their past record the number of international invites has always been low for this program.

POI just emailed me that Penn seems will not invite me for the interview as only 4 international student will be invited and the committee is leaning towards other applicant. Sad News...

I am not counting on Princeton to be honest... A little bit too reachy for me, my background and reserach interests is also not very aligned with what they have. They are also very basic science focused.... But I am still suprised how many people here got an invite. Congrats ! big accomplishment. I did see someone already posted they got invites from stanford BMI tho....
