Still waiting on Maryland, John Hopkins, and Rutgers.  Rejected by Duke and Michigan. Accepted by UNC

I haven't herd back from Michigan yet, which is weird because they've sent out some of the rejections already? And still waiting on UCLA.

Speaking of acceptance, has anyone heard from Tufts University? I applied by the application deadline and received an email a few days later thanking me for my interest and giving me general information about the department and about funding. Also, information on updating my application. It does not read like any kind of acceptance at all and I have no letter of acceptance in the application portal.

Then I got an email today from one of the professors there reminding me that I have until April 15th to accept. I'm confused! Do they have the wrong person? Did the acceptance email go to the wrong place? There is nothing in my junk mail folder.

Have you emailed them back asking what's going on? I'm interested to hear what happens! I would love to have been admitted unknowingly to the schools I haven't heard from yet... ?

  3. Does anyone know if the Michigan recruitment weekend included literature or was just the history/ archaeology, and if the different programs have different admissions? I haven't heard anything and assume rejection and I'm just wondering when they'll set me free lol

  4. Thanks everyone!! :)I didn't really apply with a top choice in mind, and applied only to schools I'd be happy to attend, if that makes sense. L.A. Caeolo, I'm super sorry but in the interest of preserving relative anonymity I'm not really comfortable saying where I'm from. Sorry about that!

Sorry to hear that! May I ask though, did you ever get an interview with Cornell? I applied, but I never heard anything, so I'm assuming that means a rejection?

Hi, I did have an interview a few weeks ago. I don't know how their admissions works though, you might still have a chance! Lots of schools accept people without interviewing them, I think. Good luck! :)

So sorry to hear! but hopefully you'll get in elsewhere and who knows, maybe you'll make it through the waitlist!

Thank you! I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard not to feel discouraged. This is my first result, and I thought the interview went really well, so now I'm really doubting my chances. ?

Yeah, concluding I didn't make UCLA if I didn't get invited to that weekend interview, which is depressing. Counting them as a rejection I'm 2r and haven't heard anything from the last two now. It's taken a few days to come to terms with it.

Don't give up hope! What other rejection have you gotten?

  8. I'll add - good luck on your interview!

Hi everyone, I have an interview for Cambridge's Mphil in Classics next week. I'm having difficulty finding any information about the Cambridge Classics MPhil interview specifically. How did yours go? What questions did they ask you? Also, if you could say also which professors you interviewed with that'd be great! Thanks in advance.

  9. Hey! I did this program last year. The interview was somewhat formal, and they asked me right away to speak about my proposed research process. Very little small talk, right to the point! Though of course that will depend on the interviewers' preference. It should be fine, there are no trick questions, it's just a conversation about your interests. My one piece of advice is to practice speaking eloquently and concisely about your proposed research, and ideas you might have for the three essays. You aren't really going to be bound to those topics if you enroll, but it's important to be able to present clear and sophisticated research plans during the interview. As for me, I stumbled a little during my interview because I expected it to be more of an informal chat and hadn't practiced talking about my research interests. But it was fine in the end. Don't be too worried about it!
