I got into UNC Health Behavior too!! Over the moon, but I didn't get any funding or advisor info...just a generic email and acceptance letter. Assuming those details will be sent soonish?

@PhDProgramSocialBehavior Out of curiosity - did you both get emails/do you know what date your acceptance letters were uploaded to the UNC portal? I still haven't gotten an email to check the portal despite my acceptance being posted yesterday ?

Not super worried, but would be comforting to hear directly from the school lol!

For those that are admitted or have accepted an offer:

How did/will you celebrate and how do plan to prepare? Also, is anyone quitting their job anytime soon?

Ordered takeout and had a nice-ish bottle of champagne.

And I’m keeping my job through August pretty much I think... ideally I’d take a few months off to travel, but since that’s probably not happening this summer I figure I might as well keep making money while I can...

I booked a trip to Hawaii in early March, I thought it would be either for celebration or for healing. Now that I am waitlisted, I guess it's for both LOL. I know travel/vacation is discouraged but I am vaccinated and this is much needed.

I was in shock and did not celebrate on the day of. But now I bought a bottle of champagne, and I am hoping that I will be able to go back home (Brazil) at least once before starting the program.

Until then, I'm finishing my MPH in the summer, so I will be studying/working until the first week of August.

We popped a bottle of Costco-brand Prosecco and ordered some Domino's!!!

Congratulations to you both! I didn't get any funding info yet (honestly haven't even gotten an email - just checked the portal and was surprised to find I had an update ?) . Hopefully funding info comes through soon, but am just so happy to have gotten in (and to stop worrying so much about if I will/won't get in anywhere, as that was my last app I had to hear back from).

    Anyone heard final decisions from:

JHU SBI program within International Health

    UNC Health Behavior

I think all IH decisions at JHU were sent out last night. I haven’t heard from UNC health behavior since the interview in early February! I think they said decisions would come out by the end of the month?

I haven't heard anything from UNC Health Behavior since the interview stage, either! Fingers crossed for you both!

I just heard from UCSD Health Behaviors PhD program that they haven’t yet started reviewing applications due to scheduling challenges.  So I’m assuming it will be a while until any word is given.

Big yikes. Fingers crossed for you, and that they let everyone who applied know soon!

I hope you are right! I know that this cycle was more competitive than previous ones, so I'm also not holding my breath either. I'm just considering myself fortunate to make it this far in the cycle with multiple interviews—even if they ended up as rejections. Good luck to you too!

Agreed! Just feel lucky to have interviewed - but admission would certainly be a bonus!

Interviewed and pending decisions: UCLA, BU, Emory, NYU

    No interview invites, silence: USC

Anyone heard back from UCLA CHS yet? I interviewed with them three weeks ago. I saw that someone got an acceptance few weeks back on the results page, so I'm now expecting a rejection.

USC HBR is probably a rejection, since I saw few interview invites and acceptance on the results page already.

We had few people on this thread receive their acceptance letters from Emory last weekend, so I'm also expecting a rejection email to hit my inbox soon.

I also am waiting to hear back from Emory - but you never know! I know a lot of schools don't let everyone know at once as there are generally a bunch of moving pieces to the admissions process - so I'm holding out a bit of hope. Good luck!

  8. Anyone heard from Harvard PhD in PHS, Global Health and Population (with a concentration in Pop and Family Health)? I've seen some posts about interviews for the Health Systems track (and other departments) being sent out, but have not seen or heard anything related to GHP-Pop and Family Health.

    Thanks, all!

As of now, I'm out at Penn, Pitt, and Emory. All PhDs.

Still no invites for interviews. Now I'm convinced I'm never getting out of my dead end job or advancing in the world.

    Still waiting for:

DrPH: BUSPH, Harvard, Columbia, Hopkins, GW, Penn State

PhD: Brown, Northeastern, UMass, UMd, UNC, Tulane, Temple, Drexel, Rutgers

My brother died by suicide at 32 years old Nov 16. I have to try and pick up the pieces. This whole thing is a mess. I regret even trying.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother.  I hope you are taking care of yourself during what has to be an unbelievably difficult time.

In terms of grad schools, I second what everyone else has said - there are tons of programs that are still reviewing apps (including many of the programs you applied to), and the responses you've received that haven't been favorable could be for the best. Often times it's not about qualifications, but about research fit, funding available, and the capacity for advisors to take on new students, so please don't think this means you are undeserving of getting in!

I know it is difficult, but keep your head up. There are still a ton of programs out there for you, and if you don't get in this cycle, there is always next year (and hey, you'll already have most of your essays written!).  As for work, staying in jobs where you aren't appreciated or where the work doesn't resonate with you is incredibly draining. Just know there are always other jobs out there, and it is never too late to pursue another job.

Best of luck to you, and take care.

I just received an interview invite for Harvard (Population Health Sciences - Global Health and Population). I also applied to UNC Health Policy and Management but haven’t heard anything yet.

Congrats on the interview invite! Out of curiosity - did you apply to the Health Systems or Population and Family Health track?
