To everyone here stressing just like me : ) I just want to take a moment to say you did fantastic. You did all that you could have expected of yourself and more. Not just my words but the literal feeling at Stanford GSE from what I took away from my POI. There is so much talent and untapped potential in the applicants shaped by the tragedy that is Covid 19. Please don't let one decision keep you from dreaming big and applying again in future years or accepting whatever opportunity presents itself in some other way. Take it. Trust me you will not regret it.
I honestly was not expecting an interview. In fact, I got an email from someone outside my intended area of specialization. But I'm happy I showed up for the interview 30 min in total and that I put my best case forward with what I knew at the moment.
Whether or not I get accepted won't change what I am currently doing. I am a teacher! I am a teacher going through the same struggles and challenges as all of you. I am mindful that this cycle has been particularly taxing on so many levels and that everyone experiences things differently. So please take care of yourself this week and the next.
And I can't stress this enough. Please keep your chin up and move forward with purpose and compassion. For every spot taken there are hundreds of fantastic applicants that are equally if not more deserving than you for that particular spot. Thank you everyone for sharing your pain, passion, and hopes. I wish you well in everything.

I know what you mean because I am going through similar upheaval of emotions and self-efficacy. I have been telling myself to let go and prepare a backup. And this is why I won't give you words that I am not giving myself, but I will send my good wishes to you and hope that you get through.

This! I was interviewed by two POI around Jan 24th. They mentioned they usually take in 24-30, but it would probably be closer to the lower end due to COVID. After my interview they mentioned they would advocate for those students they wanted in the GSE program but it would be passed off to admin/dean to create cohorts that fit well because that was an important dynamic of the program.

Per their website for last year's class all GSE Programs 1,477 applied and entering class 114.
1 Due to the impact of COVID-19, these numbers are smaller than in a traditional year. A typical PhD class is 25-30, while ICE/IEPA, LDT, and POLS master’s cohorts are about 20. STEP Elementary typically sees a cohort size of 25 while STEP Secondary is about 65. The EDS master’s program plans to have 8-10 in its inaugural cohort.

Hi! Interviews are up to the faculty members, but generally an interview is a good indication that you've made it past a certain level of screening. I had my interview on 1/22, and the professor told me that they will likely be releasing decisions around 2/13.

There are around a dozen Stanford results posted everyday but GSE seems to be peculiarly silent. So unnerving!

I've spoken to multiple, current SGSE students who said they were admitted without any interviews

The FAQs page says that interview is not a formal part of the process and the program page mentions that candidates might be contacted for an interview to acquire additional information. BUT, has anyone ever heard of someone being accepted at SGSE without an interview? With all this waiting time and my application status still incomplete, I am letting horses run wild in my head.

A friend told me that universities all over the world have received a record number of applications. Many of her friends are professors so they have been talking to her about the amount of work they need to put into this year’s review process.

A SHIP interviewee left a comforting message on the results page saying something similar. I will now go watch some Miyazaki to change my tempo.

I don't think this is a healthy way to look at doing a PhD. Sure, you can be disappointed that you didn't get in, as all of us here would be checking the results. But getting into this program is the rarest of rare opportunities, judging by the comments about how many apps they have received and how many get in, I think we are talking about less than 1%. It's not not reasonable to attach your life goals to such a difficult accomplishment. In fact, I struggle to imagine any specific career goal that simply could never be achieved because you didn't study at Stanford. Even if your dream is to work in Stanford!

In order to even apply for this program, you must feel like you have accomplished quite a lot in your career and studies so far, meaning you are probably an excellent candidate for programs elsewhere. Call me naive, but I really do think that if you get into a solid enough program the sky is still the limit for you. If you have a seminal research idea, and execute it well, then you will have all the same options as a GSE grad. Who knows, maybe you'll get to go there as a postdoc or even a member of staff someday. So please do not give up on your dreams because of this, Stanford would be nice sure, but there are plenty of other ways to get what you want.

    Hi guys..
Well, I must say that at this moment I have lost all my hopes for positive decision.
Today morning I woke up and literally very clearly it came to my  mind how little chances I had with my application to Stanford PhD, literally no chances, and how funny it may look for someone that I even dared to think about being admitted. I realized this morning, that I have to forget about this application and about my Stanford dream, and try to move on...
I wanna share with you that i did my best with the application: writing my essay, taking my TOEFL several times, meeting and talking to my recommenders. I have done a lot of work indeed. There were moments when I thought of myself with regards to my application to Stanford: "how stupid you are!!! you worth nothing in this world!!! if you are not admitted to Stanford now, will can never be able achieve your goals!!! you are not ideal!!! forget about all your dreams!!! you are totally useless!!!" - yes, this is how I think of myself in terms of "possible" rejection from Stanford.
Why I am writing "possible" in quotes? Actually it should be without quotes since rejection is not possible, it is real. I must accept that I have no chances. It is hard to realize fully, and to accept, since all my professional hopes and aspirations were connected to my Stanford PhD. Without this degree achieving my goals is absolutely not possible. So, saying goodbye to Stanford PhD means saying goodbye to all my professional dreams and goals that I wanted to achieve in my country.
Well, I am writing this and literally crying.
Also, guys, have you heard about setting goals with visualization and other tricks that are supposed to help to make your dream come true? I am not sure whether all that "magic" works but I tried all those tricks: visualization, working with the goal energy, etc..... but ultimately I must admit that real facts are different from what I imagined. I must admit my rejection no matter how hard it is.
I want to wish you all good luck.
The only thing I want to say about myself, for myself: "no, Jeanne, you are not stupid, on the contrary- you worked really hard, you did your best for the realization of the dreams that I had, you were not lazy, you believed in your dream until the very end. And you should not blame yourself, but respect and thank yourself for all the hard work you did."
So, bye guys, it was really nice to share these days of waiting with you, and to get to know you. It would be so great to meet you all in reality, and to attend our classes together at Stanford, but this will be left in my dreams forever.
                     ???????

So I've been just trying to organize the information that's been posted on the Results page in the recent weeks as we ready our minds for the flurry of notifications that are to come. It's too difficult to break everything down by program, so I just created a list based on my personal interests or what I was seeing most often. If you find this helpful, please feel free to add on with any other information you may know + your program of choice! Corrections are also welcome
    Current status as of 1/26:
CU Boulder (Ph.D. in LSHD) - Recent result indicates that POI has sent invite for panel interview and Finalists Weekend (Guessing this means interviews are required)  NYU Steinhardt (Ph.D. in Too many tracks) - According to website, interview requirements seem to differ by program / A couple of interview invites on the results page, and final results seem to come around late February ~ early March Ohio State (Ph.D. in FSML) - Acceptances seem to have gone out; don't know if it's sent in rounds   Stanford GSE (Ph.D. in Too many tracks) - Website indicates there is no formal interview process and that they may be conducted on a faculty-by-faculty basis / A couple of people have posted about interviews, and results page consistently shows Stanford releasing most decisions by mid-February (around Valentine's Day) UC Irvine (Ph.D in Education) - Website indicates interviews are required / Results page indicates interview invites have been sent out and a few informal acceptances have been made UC Los Angeles (Ph.D. in HEOC) - Email from staff that HEOC does not conduct interviews and that results will be available by early February  UC San Diego (Ph.D in Education) - Interviews are required / Email has been sent out to shortlisted candidates that program hopes to finish interviews by 2/2  UMich, Ann Arbor (Ph.D. in Higher Education) - Interviews are required / Email has been sent out to shortlisted candidates U of Minnesota (Ph.D in Second Language Education) - Rejections seem to have been sent out  U of Minnesota (Ph.D in CIDE) - Acceptances seem to have been sent out; don't know if it's sent in rounds    USC Rossier (Ph.D in Urban Education Policy) - Website indicates interviews are required for semi-finalists and continue throughout January / Results page shows a few interview invites; website timeline says decisions will be out by early February Vanderbilt Peabody (Ph.D. in Special Education) - Rejections seem to have gone out

Ha Ha! Sorry! I meant I am more of a glass-is-half-empty kind of person! They have mentioned that an interview is not a part of the normal admissions process and faculty takes that call. So, there is enough reason for you to not worry.
