  1. What kind of scholarships have people been offered from Columbia so far? I just received my package, which includes a 13k/year scholarship. Even with that, the cost of attendance would be like 60k/year. Definitely not affordable by any means ?
  2. I definitely hope to have some sort of part time job while in school. It'll be tough since field placement+class become essentially a full-time job, but hopefully weekends or something in the evenings would work. It all depends on what kind of aid I can get. I'll be living off campus, but I already live in NYC so that's not so helpful, sorry! Will you be moving from outside of NY?
  3. Hi everyone! Does anyone what the process is for field placement once admitted to MSW programs? Do they usually get the ball rolling on your placement as soon as you commit, or is there a general timeline that all students follow? Or is it different for each school? Thanks:)
  4. Thanks! They said that I should hear about financial aid within two weeks. When did you apply? Hopefully this means they're sending out notifications
  5. Thank you! I applied at the end of December, and received an email about my completed application in mid-January.
  6. Just heard from Columbia, I got in!! Hope everyone waiting hears soon with good news!
  7. I emailed them a few weeks ago and they said that those who applied before the priority deadline (12/1) will hear in February (it was strange because they said that in March), and the rest of the applicants will hear at the end of March to early April. This was a few weeks ago, so you can probably reach out to get a more updated timeline!
  8. I got an email late last night telling me to disregard the interview email as I had already been accepted. I'm not sure if this applies to those who haven't interviewed yet or whose apps are still pending. I'd recommend reaching out to admissions office to clarify your own case just to be sure!
  9. Haha thank you, I hope you're right! Hoping everything with tonight's email gets sorted out soon as well
  10. I have a feeling there's some glitch going on. I got accepted to Hunter about 3 weeks ago and even sent my commitment last week, but I got an email tonight for a group interview. Totally threw me off and now my anxiety is telling me that my acceptance was sent by accident ?
  11. Officially they say 8 weeks from your app, but I emailed them last week asking for a timeline and they said that applicants who applied by the priority deadline will hear in February (which was strange because they said this in March ?) and everyone else will hear back end of March to April.
  12. You're right, I didn't think about that. It's definitely the cheapest option by far. I guess I'll need to find outside scholarships to help!
  13. Has anyone who has been accepted to Hunter recieved scholarship info? I just got an email that only listed Unsubsidized Loans as my financial aid and that's not going to cover my living expenses in addition to tuition, even considering Hunter's super cheap price tag. Wondering if I'm missing something or if they send scholarship info later? Or did I just not recieve any scholarship offer at all?
  14. Has anyone heard from Columbia who applied after the priority deadline? I have about 1 more week to commit to Hunter and wanted to hear from Columbia first. I'm seeing that people who applied 12/1 are still waiting which is so frustrating! Hoping for the best for all of you in this agonizing waiting period! Also, does anyone know the best email address for Columbia admissions? I tried emailing the one on their admissions page but it bounced back as an invalid address, which was weird.
  15. Congrats on your acceptance to Lehamn! I don't have a number for admission offhand, but I've actually had great success with reaching out to Hunter's admissions through their chat option on the admissions page of the Silberman website. I think I've done it 2-3 times so far with helpful and swift responses each time, so it's worth reaching out to ask for a timeline. Wishing you luck!
  16. Whoops! Just realized this question was not to me. Ignore me!
  17. I haven't given my commitment yet, but I will most likely go there. I'm still waiting to hear from Columbia before making a final decision but tbh I am leaning toward Hunter regardless!
  18. Pretty much. It says final decision and then at the bottom of the screen there's a link that sends you to the acceptance letter.
  19. Hi! My application just said submitted until it was updated with a final decision. No review stage.
  20. Wishing you the best of luck! Hope you hear soon with an acceptance - seems like they're working pretty quickly this year (in comparison to what I've read about previous years' timelines).
  21. Thank you!! And do you have an interview scheduled? It seems like Hunter is sort of inconsistent with that so hopefully you'll get lucky! It's hard to know what was the factor that did it (I wish I knew!). My gpa was decent, pretty average for my school and major, but I think my experience was more valuable -- my personal experiences that led me to the field of social work in addition to volunteer/professional work in the field. I volunteered on a crisis hotline in college and worked for a year as a service provider in a non profit so I'm pretty confident that that helped, but can't know for sure!
