neuroling reacted to UnderLing21 in 2022 Canada Admissions SLP thread
I just got into UBC as well! Also they offered me an entrance scholarship, which I was absolutely not expecting - anyone else get that too?
I got rejected by Western and still haven't heard from U of A so have kind of been assuming that's a rejection as well, so I guess the decision might be made for me lol. But it would be nice to know for sure!

Got into UBC! Now I'm conflicted between U of A and UBC...I like the idea of staying in BC for grad school but U of A arguably has a better program??

I think I've seen this shared elsewhere in this thread, but FYI for anyone wondering:
-Last year UA sent out acceptances March 26 and 27
-UBC sent acceptances on April 7
-I got my rejection letter from Dalhousie on April 7 too (but they were pretty all over the map with when they sent both acceptances and rejections out)
Not sure when they'll be sent out this year of course but I hope that helps anyone wondering!

If I recall correctly the status on the portal either wasn't updated at all or wasn't updated till quite late in the review process last year. Things can change year to year but I wouldn't spend too much time checking it haha

neuroling got a reaction from 2nd year Dal Student in 2022 Canada Admissions SLP thread
For UBC, ORPAS, Dal, I don't think any of my references made any reference to the particular programs in their letters (I didn't get into Western or Dal but I did get an offer from UBC). One of my references did say that she altered her letter slightly for UA as I mentioned their EDI initiative to her. In general, I think the admissions officers know that the reference's job is to write a letter about you and your job is to know about the programs. I hope that helps!

I think so! I had an SLP look over my statement and she said it was okay as long as you make sure to do something like "...speech-language pathology (SLP)..." the first time you use it and be consistent throughout your statement.

I discussed this briefly in my LOI! I can't imagine it would ever hurt to spend some time explicitly explaining why the strengths/attributes you've described in your letter make you an especially good candidate for their school

Just a heads-up, but I was accepted from the Western waitlist on Friday from the second quadrant, and I plan on declining, so the list will probably be moving again soon!

I’m not sure if referees get an outline since emails sent to them are confidential. I did, however, provide a copy of my up to date resume, letter of intent, transcript, and a document that listed specific events and/or qualities that I wanted my references to talk about in their letter (the more specific the better). This way references can write a well supported letter that stands out from the other applicants. It also shows your references how dedicated and serious you are about your application!
You can refer to the ORPAS website for more information about the application cycle

I got onto the Western waitlist (still in the 1st quad waiting) with a 3.61 sGPA. From what I understand Western generally focuses more on experience over GPA where as UofT is the opposite
