I requested to join the MFA Draft '21 and it has been two days with no approval. Anybody have this experience? I just want to know the real time info before I go crazy! I'm so anxious and afraid—and I'm not usually like this. I thought getting waitlisted at my dream program would make me happy, but honestly, getting waitlisted and not making it in will break my little heart. Since I'm waiting to hear back from ten other schools, I was hoping to see some info from MFA Draft.

Are there any vets out there who can speak to miracles?
I need a little hope tonight. UMD is one of my last shots for acceptance before I get to my final few bigwigs (Brown, Boston, UVA). Rutgers is a maybe, but I'm not counting on it, and my one acceptance to Temple has since not given me any word of movement on the waitlist for funding so it may be implausible for me to even entertain. 
If this isn't my year, how do I deal with it? Should I keep holding out hope for a miracle acceptance, or accept that this isn't my time? How did YOU deal with it? What did you do instead of grad school in the time between?
I would accept any advice graciously ❤️

I can't believe this, but I just got my first acceptance. I got an email from the University of Maryland, with details of TAship. I am so happy. My heart is pounding its way out of my chest right now. I'm shaking and crying, and my heart won't stop pounding. I can't believe it happened. I am so overjoyed, I can barely type, or move, or breathe. I am so happy. It feels unreal.

Oh wow - just got waitlisted at Hopkins for poetry!

That's where I'm at too, just waiting for the form paper letter at this point. Hopefully this week we'll all hear from the other schools and release some of this tension. I got myself hungover today, so that's keeping me busy and distracted!

BROOKLYN COLLEGE WYA

Heads up from Draft, someone was notified of a "mystery waitlist" earlier by email for fiction, said they were asked to keep it under wraps because it was a personal email and not official but they were given their answer. They said this specific school would be notifying in a few days, and that they only had 2-3 funded spots this year.
My money's on Brown, Place your bets!

Roger that: My phone is surgically attached to my hand. I’m hoping that the poetry acceptance bodes well for us hearing back today. I just keep telling myself that in all likelihood, the decision has already been made, our fates are sealed etc etc

All the stuff I sent in my writing sample was in this zone. Totally a risk but I wanted to represent myself as genuinely as I possibly could.

While we're waiting for news, let's talk publications. Anyone have anything published online they'd be willing to share? (I'll have to come back and do this from a computer. I'm on my phone on my lunch break right now.)

Josh did say it could also be early next week (which, I hope, means Monday!) And I just looked up in the results, acceptances tend to be phone calls! So no need to refresh your inbox, just make sure you're staring at your phone screen all day ?

If any of us ever made to an adcom of an MFA program someday, we could try to fix/revolutionize many bumps in this whole application process. And I think one of them is - portals are useless (at least in my experience lol)

My ass is impatient, too. I emailed Alissa. Ain't nobody got time for unnecessary waves of emotional cartwheeling. ✌️

For those who applied, there was a Brooklyn College poetry acceptance on draft recently

I have a feeling Brooklyn College is going to notify acceptances today (or tomorrow.) thank god I have to work today otherwise I would be refreshing my inbox like I was trying to book a vaccine.

Just woke up to an update on my Notre Dame portal. I was wait listed! So, so happy. I doubt I'll get off the wait list, but I'm a bit relieved since almost every other place has rejected me. In case I don't get in, I'll likely be applying again in a year or two!

Hey, if you guys ever have questions about applying next year, I’m probably going to do what @feralgrad does and pop up randomly next cycle to see how everyone is doing. This is my second cycle, and I have tips. Arguably too many tips due to excessive research and asking a lot of people a lot of questions.
