I hate to say this but from all my experiences in the past one month, American students are the most difficult to work with. Least cooperative, most judgmental.

Maybe seek out Americans who are not from the school's area. Those who just moved will have a lot more in common with you than the locals, and in my experience that makes it easier to connect. It's too bad that you've had problems with the students you have worked with, but don't generalize this to 'Americans,' that's not fair.

I'm drowning in reading. I figured taking 7 classes would be a challenge, but it is HARD to keep everything straight.

What to do when you really want to take a class but it has reached its maximum limit. I have already gotten my name included in the waitlist. Is there anything else I can do?

Should be finding out today if my fiance got the job and can move with me...or whether we become another long-distance couple.

My second year is about to begin, my syllabus is ready to go, and this growing fetus inside me can't stop kicking! All exciting things, though the kicks bring me the most joy.

I was coming back from a jog when some Saudi guys pulled over and threw a "Salama Laikum" in my direction. (Saudis never stop to say hello to a foreigner). I thought it was meant for someone else and kept walking. They then STARTED BACKING UP and said "Excuse me! Hello!". (SAUDIS AREN'T POLITE TO FOREIGNERS). I looked at them and they motioned me to their car. I thought to myself, keep moving man keep moving. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had sto...

It is sort of surreal that a year ago I moved to start my graduate program, and now I'm almost done with my qualifying exam!!!

What do you do when you are denied service somewhere? I was at the airport and went to a watch stall to get one of the links taken out from my watch. The salesperson was already doing the same thing for another person. When I asked if he could do it for me too he stopped me mid sentence and (quite rudely) motioned NO. Now I'm a person who gets offended easily but on this occasion I really was. I didn't ask him why and just walked away. What should have I done?

I have a question that I don't believe is sufficient for a whole post - how often do you meet with your adviser?

Opinions are like dignity and respect, we are each entitled to have them. What opinions are NOT, are something you shove onto other people telling them how to be how to think. Opinions are NOT something you give when they were not asked for. Opinions ARE something to keep to yourself when preemptively jumping to conclusions about people you don't even know. Like an advice happy wanna be know it all should not tell someone how they are when no one asked what they think. DONT JUDGE PEOPLE Y...
