From what I saw last year they give pretty decent stipends--but then again I'm not sure if everyone was fully funded like it is now. I hope it is, though! Congrats again!

I applied for the Art program. One of the current MFAs told me he heard from them the day after the interview day. Good luck!

Today was my last interview day--so happy to be done! For those who were wondering about CalArts: all the School of Arts programs at interviewed today. It's a really nice, school, I liked the vibe here more than SAIC. Everyone is very friendly and approachable. I was told we would find out as early as tomorrow, so we'll see how it works out!

I've been hesitant to apply as well because of the two year thing--but I definitely will after grad school! I'm soo looking forward to ACA, I have friends who have gone who said it was great too. I wish it was still fully funded though (they're only giving $500 scholarships now :/).
-
Congrats!! I found out last night I was waitlisted. Is that where you'll go? Did they inform you of funding?
-
Accepted to SAIC printmedia via email.
-
Fine Arts Work Center, Atlantic Center for the Arts (got in), elsewhere southern constellations, Millay and Art Omi (not accepted).
-
Waitlisted at Rutgers.

It would take a lot more than a mysterious writing fellowship to sway me to go to SAIC after the interview I had with that department, that's for sure! Now that you're nearly done with interviews, which school(s) are you leaning towards?
-
congrats to you both on RCA!

I applied with video and images. I saw a lot of activity on Vimeo in February (6 views throughout the month), but nothing so far this month. I hope it's a good sign.

bumping this to get updates on housing since most of these replies are from two or more years ago.
-
Just got an email that I've been accepted to the Photo department at SAIC and as a "writing fellow,"no word on funding. Surprised to have been accepted by that department, honestly.
-
Oh, I see. That's really quick turnaround--how I think it should be for all schools, honestly! How did your interview go? I hope you get good news tomorrow, good luck!
-
Some people were rejected a few weeks ago, some people were invited to interview March 4th, but other than that, no word yet. I know they accepted some people last year without interviews but who knows if they'll do that again this year.
-
Congrats!! Do you think that's where you'll go?
-
Congrats!! I've heard great things about UPenn's program, I would've applied there myself except I didn't want to shell out an extra $200+ to have my degree from the UK verified. I've already expressed my opinion on SAIC (or rather, what I've been told repeatedly by other people), so I won't go into again.

CalArts interviews are next week.
-
I'm pretty sure that's where I'm going, but I have one more interview (CalArts), so I'll wait to accept until after then. I also want to see what the funding situation is (although I know tuition is covered). What about you?

Just got an email saying I've been accepted at UCI--so excited!!
-
Sorry to hear that. May I ask for which department? Why are these coming out so slowly...? Bah!
-
Will they let you skype instead?
-
The only school I've had cover expenses is UCI.

I just got back from my interview and tour of UCI. They said we'd hear back as soon as a week from now but within two weeks from now for sure. I'm soooo in love with UCI--just everything about it is amazing. Definitely my best interview experience yet--I really hope I get in! Did they ask where else you applied, too? Re SAIC: For Photo I interviewed with Jan Tichy, two lecturers (which I thought was odd), and three graduate students. I did it via skype so I could barely hear the people on the far left and right of the group, which was unfortunate because one of them happened to ask the most questions and I kept having to ask her to repeat herself...I just really didn't like the vibe at all...and literally everyone I meet now tells me not to go there (funny, considering before I applied tons of people told me to apply even though I'd scratched them off my list). Even at my interview this morning they told me not to go there! But I should mention again, the Printmedia department was completely different, really sweet and complimentary people... I feel relieved, one more interview to go...

From different departments? Like, throughout UCI? I think mine is just going to be with one or two professors and a graduate student, at least that's what I was told. Nothing really went south with my SAIC interview, I just felt the panel wasn't very friendly--they had this vibe like "we're photographers, you're not, why are you using our medium?" Which I didn't expect from a school that's all about interdisciplinarity. Conversely, the Printmedia interview was spectacular.
