  1. I'm doing my interview today with UCI. I feel ready but I am also nervous. I'm going to ask when we'll hear back. I suppose it will be quick since most people interviewed last week I'm assuming (I'm not sure if I'm the only one coming in today or not). Did you interview with the Photo department at SAIC? If so how did it go? Mine was uncomfortable, in stark contrast to the lovely interview I had with Printmedia.
  2. Ok, thanks for the info!
  3. It means you're accepted if your transcripts check out--so send them!! And congrats!
  4. No worries, I'm happy you're still in the running!
  5. Did you email/call UCI? Did they say how soon notifications will go out? I can, of course, just ask them next week but I'm still curious. I wonder how many people they interview...
  6. I highly doubt that. How many schools did you apply to?
  7. my friend who got into UCLA (years ago), said this is the exact reason why he went to a different school: lack of contact from them. Apparently this even bleeds over to those who are accepted, which is ridiculous...
  8. oh my goodness, you have so many interviews! Congrats!!
  9. I'm going to the interview in person too. We're not suppose to bring anything right? I didn't see anything in the invitation about it...
  10. How was your UCI interview, if you don't mind me asking? Mine is on Tuesday.
  11. congrats! when did they call you? did you interview?
  12. Yes, they are doing in-person interviews today, I believe, although I'm flying out next week to do mine. I was contacted at the start of the month to schedule my interview.
  13. I got a response from Rutgers that is fairly ambiguous: "At this time all decisions have not yet been made." -__- @pat46 when did UCLA send the acceptances out for Ceramics? Do you know if any other department sent anything out to applicants?
  14. which department did you apply for at SAIC? I feel like a lot of schools are moving really slow this year, or maybe it's just me thinking that because I actually applied this year... I broke down and emailed Rutgers yesterday (knowing I won't hear back until Monday). I just want to know where I stand with them already!
  15. Me too for UCLA. They contacted people this week last year so I'm guessing it's a no go for them.
  16. It's good. I'm a little bored though and finding it slightly hard to focus. But Xaviera Simmons (!!) is the visiting artist here so I have more resolve to get some work done. I'm also using it as practice for interviews since we have opportunities to present our work. What schools are you waiting to hear from now?
  17. Thanks. I've mentioned other artists who said the same thing as you as well. So, I won't worry too much about it. I saw someone from UChicago looked at my website the following day. I wonder who it was? Overall it was a good experience, I think I responded to their questions well. Anyway, I'll have the decision in a week or two--so.....we'll see!
  18. congrats on all the acceptances! I'm so jealous. I hate how drawn out this whole thing is....it's hard to focus!
  19. That's why I removed mine. I couldn't take it!
  20. First, let me say, congrats on your interviews! To answer your question, no one can tell you which program is better and it's a little scary that you would want someone to...don't rely on anyone else's opinion! All programs are different and whether or not one is the best really depends on what you want, how you work, where you see yourself going with your work. Do all the interviews, just do a general prep that should cover the most important questions they will ask. My suggestion is to start practicing talking about your work in English (should be easy since you have your artist statement written already), go through the interview questions posted in the interview thread here, write out your answers, rehearse orally. You'll be fine. I use to live abroad in a non English speaking country so I know how stressful things like this are. Hope this was helpful and good luck!
  21. I'm assuming rejection from Columbia now since interview requests have definitely gone out. no word on UCLA though...
  22. The Core program is not a MFA program. It's a year long residency that's renewable for a second year. Most people who go already have their MFA and there's a preference for people whose practice is theoretical/conceptual.
  23. I think interviews are mandatory for Irvine, so I would guess so. I have no idea for Rutgers as they accepted people last year without interviews. I haven't heard back from them either.
  24. Congrats and thanks for letting me know!
