Does anybody know how U of A weighs the Casper test scores in applications? Do they tend to accept applicants with certain quartile scores?- 1,373 replies

2022 Canada Admissions SLP thread

Hey everyone! Last year I was rejected from every school I applied to and I knew I wanted to apply in Canada again but I didn't know what to do while I waited until the 2022 application cycle. I accidentally found Minot State University, and it's a school in North Dakota (USA) that offers super cheap tuition (like - basically the same price as many Canadian schools) and they offer a Post-Baccalaureate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, which I'm currently doing. Basically it's a one-year program that provides you with sooo much clinical experience, they have an on-campus CSD clinic, and all of your profs are practicing SLPs and audiologists. Also, with the completion of the program you're offered admission into their 2 year SLP program. So basically, I'm reapplying to Canadian schools this year, but if I don't get into a school in Canada, I have this SLP program as a backup (AND it's literally the same price as if I were to go to a Canadian school!). Another great thing is that there are so many Canadian students in the program too. Definitely would recommend checking the program out if you're interested, or you can DM me if you want more info Also looool reading this back it sounds like an ad, but I swear it isn't! I just really like the program haha- 1,373 replies

I've been doing some digging online and found that last year the decisions went out during the third week of March, and the year before that they went out around March 15th. So I'd say it's probably gonna be around a similar time frame this year?- 1,373 replies

Hey! I applied last year and they never really updated the online application portal with all the received documents. It's super weird, but you never quite know if they have everything or not.- 1,373 replies

Is anyone else seeing in their U of A application under the "Documents" tab that all of their transcripts are now registered as complete and you can't remove/edit them anymore? Is that a good thing?- 1,373 replies

I'm still a little confused myself! From the explanation it seems that they're still a part of the 60 credits just that the numbers won't be used, so yeah then it would be the 15/20 courses from my understanding.- 1,373 replies

Thanks! Yeah, I did get a confirmation email back in February. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but this makes me feel a little better!

I still haven't heard anything from Dal at all. Not a rejection or a waitlist offer and I'm really confused. I emailed them on Monday and never got a reply so I have no idea what's going on.

I spoke with Winnie back in February, and she said that it's a government mandate in BC that 90% of admitted students have to be BC, Yukon, or NWT, or Nunavut residents.
