    Eyy thank you! Somehow, freelancing did turn out to be a 40hr/week thing, sometimes more sometimes less. I mostly do teaching, so it depends on how many students I have. It's hard, that's true, especially with juggling their schedules, but totally worth it when they realize how much they've learned and improved

    Oof I get it. Somehow, I feel a lot more motivated to apply after going to work, cause now I know how precious writing time is, especially with a freelance job with no fixed hours. It takes up most of my day to earn a decent sum. I know I could probably take time off to write, but there's always that nagging fear of what if? since it's not a stable, constant thing I can depend on. I certainly would like the stability of a program, especially if it comes with funding in the form of a scholarship or TA ship. I love my job xD but I love writing more. I'm sorry if it's a jumble of incoherent, run-on sentences

    That's awesome! I can relate, because last year I decided I wanted to apply to an MFA program in November, and couldn't get my English scores done in time. (I'm an international student, so it's necessary for most applications). There was a cyclone, and no TOEFL centres open. I didn't have a great writing sample either. But this time, I got it done months before, and revised the f out of my SOP and sample. I think this year's gonna be the year (hopefully?).

    Hi! I was wondering if you had found any leads? I did hear that Uni of East Anglia has a fantasy course, and a creative writing course, but both are different streams. I think you could join CW and take fantasy electives, if that helps

    I think I saw a Youtube video by faculty members of the U of H which implied almost the same thing...so I guess it might be more common than we think?

    Hi! Sorry for the late introduction. I'm new here to gradcafe. This is my second round of applications. I'm an international student, and last year was the year I discovered the existence of the MFA - pretty late, enough to not be able to write the TOEFL and leave a couple of applications unsubmitted because they were incomplete without it. This year though, I'm done with them, except one which needs a transcript mailed ? It's nice to meet everyone here, and to know that applying a second time is normal. I wish I had found this community before, everyone seems so nice! All the best to you peeps wherever you are in your writing journey
