  1. Same here, hope that doesn't mess up your plans all that much! I got rejected but have already accepted elsewhere, so not a huge deal to me. Still kind of surprising given my background, but it is what it is ?‍♂️
  2. The due date is Nov. 15; these awards would be for those that applied for it prior to Nov. 15, 2021, in that round. You'd be eligible to apply this fall though, I would imagine!
  3. Likewise - however I don't believe I have access to my Carleton email yet, and didn't receive one to the email they would have on file. Found it in Carleton Central - although for me, I wasn't able to accept online (server error). Nonetheless, great news!
  4. Honestly, if this was my situation, I'd go where funding was offered. Not to say any school is really "better" than others, but degrees, especially for policy, will be very similar no matter where you go. Calgary might focus a bit more on energy, but all in all, very similar.
  5. Can't say I can help much with the feeling of waiting (we all know it, all too well!) but I do want to say, big congratulations for even thinking about going back to school! I did my undergrad with a few mature students and it was always a pleasure to learn from peers with more experience (yes, older!) than me. Whether or not you get in, I still think even that is an accomplishment worth celebrating. Good luck with it all!
  6. Also Carleton - can't say anything in terms of speed as this is my initial time replying, but I'm stuck at the "Application Under Review by FGPA" and have been for sometime. Where did you see they were projected at the end of March? I'd really like to know, as that would kind of be the cherry on top for my funding package and really solidify my decision to accept Carleton. Good luck to all!
  7. Will you all allow a lonely future MIPIS student join too? Hahahah (only half kidding, it would be nice to meet some of you going to NPSIA!)
  8. Yup, and I would even have the possibility of cheap rent through family that own some residences there. Hard to see how the MGA isn't for anyone but uber wealthy individuals or those that do not understand the true costs of that education. Plus, from all that I can tell, if you can get into Munk, one should be able to get into a few other options. Not that I know what is best for everyone, this is definitely situational-dependent! My family is decently well off, but there's no way I'm paying $50k for a Canadian (or any!) Masters degree, when other schools want to pay me to do the same. (I find it extremely funny because it'll be the second time I'm declining U of T, first one with my undergrad after they skipped me over for funding as well; I chose to go to a school that paid for my undergrad, and I don't regret it one bit.)
  9. Gotcha! Thanks. Also happy to chime in and say that Munk offered me admission for the MGA as well. No funding though, which, while I was expecting little to none from Munk, it pretty well makes it a definitive decline for me. Not going to spend $25k/year just on tuition to move to one of Canada's most expensive cities, for a masters degree. I think I'll go elsewhere, where I won't have any student debt
  10. Anyone in here apply to Carleton NPSIA's (and Engineering School's) MIPIS program - Master of Infrastructure Protection and International Security? I know this topic is mostly focus on NPSIA applications, but haven't seen much (if anything) on MIPIS on here. Received an offer last week for it similar to some of the top end offers in here (departmental scholarships, RA, TA, etc.). Very enticing offer, just wanting to know what everyone thinks of the program, and if anyone else has applied! Good luck to all!
  11. Can I ask which program at Carleton and U of O? Both PoliSci? Just curious because I've been accepted at Carleton as well, and applied to the MGA at Munk. Carleton's funding so far has been second to none, and it's really making a strong case for itself. While I do have principles, I will be convinced by getting my schooling costs covered. Have you gone to Carleton? Looking for some insight into their programs. Do most people go into government after? How's living in Ottawa?
  12. Hi 7s7s, if you accept an offer from one university, it will not (or at least, should not...would be news to me if it did!) cancel your other applications. You may be able to ask for an extension to make a decision. I've applied to a few of Ontario universities, and have already received an extension from one of them to make a decision, as I am waiting on offers from Europe. I would get in contact with the contact person/email on your offer, or the head of the department in which you applied. I went the latter (department), and they were nothing but kind and understanding.
  13. Just found this forum, was looking for info on SAIS Financial Aid and all that, but awesome that there's this thread here. Last year's SAIS thread has some details on people getting financial aid. Got my SAIS Europe MAIR Acceptance on the 17th. Coming from a (small-ish) Canadian University, straight out of undergrad. Low-Mid 90s average. Minor work experience in energy, written essentially two undergrad theses (one official, another one a part of a specialized program). (International) Business Degree with a significant focus on polisci & econ throughout my electives. I'll be waiting on Financial Aid (email said mid March) to make my final decision - SAIS price is steep coming from Canada. Applied to a few other programs in Europe (got into one, waiting on Financial Aid/Scholarship decision in March/April too), and two in Canada (Toronto and Carleton). Happy Holidays to everyone that celebrates.
