Got my email! I was in committee 2 (history) if that helps anyone. Got one of the fellowships and just feeling relieved that I'll finally be able to sleep tonight. Good luck everyone! I hope there's some good news ahead!

Nothing for me yet. The people I know who have received results seem to be mostly in the humanities.

I just got my email!
Unfortunately, my application scored much worse than last year and I did not get an award.
Crossing my fingers for all of you!

To my knowledge, you can't fully combine both, but it is possible to partially combine them depending on the circumstances. For example, if you got the 20 000$ SSHRC fellowship AND the FRQSC (which is 21 000$), FRQSC would top off the other one. At the MA level, you can accept both and the FRQSC will fund your second year since it's a 2-year scholarship. However, it wouldn't work for the CGS-D (even if the FRQSC is longer) since the total SSHRC amount is higher than the FRQSC one.

I just got a message from the FRQSC (Quebec funding); results will be available tomorrow, 9 AM. Hopefully the SSHRC aren't too far behind!

It won't let me reupload for some reason, but here's what I said:
Hi Suzanne,
Thank you! I know that the NSERC results have begun to go out yesterday and today. Are our results being released at the same time, or is SSHRC on a different schedule? By end of the week, do you mean Friday or Sunday?
Thanks,
And here was the reply: Hi,
SSHRC is on a different schedule. You will probably get an email tomorrow or Friday on how to see your results.
Sincerely,

I just got off the phone with the helpdesk and while they could not tell me anything specific (because they are not the fellowships office) they advised that 2000 emails are set to be sent out today. I don't know what this means, but fingers crossed!!!

I just wanted to say that I have used up all my upvotes today but appreciate everyone sharing their research project ideas and would like them all if I could! How do I get more upvotes?! Lol.
This is my first time going through and I don't think that SSHRC has ever sent me a direct email because it all went through the university so no idea what to look for but guessing I'll know when i see it.

I am investigating which linguistic (e.g. word length) and extralinguistic factors (e.g. gender, age, social attitudes) are most associated with the spread or non-spread of neologisms (new words) using multivariate statistics and a big data approach (massive amounts of Twitter and newspaper data). Knowing which factors favour neologistic spread will be very useful for language planning organisations around the world (including Quebec), as one of their roles is to coin official terms. Hopefully my work will help prevent organisations from proposing "what-were-they-even-thinking" terms like "égoportrait" --the official French translation for "selfie". (Yup, it sounds just as judgemental in French).

Has anybody heard anything? I applied directly to the agency but have not heard anything beyond an initial confirmation that they received my application, back in the fall.
Good luck everyone!🤞

Good luck, everyone!
This application was my second time making it to the final round. I was quite close to the last funded position last year, so my fingers are crossed! (Trying very hard not to get my hopes up, though.)
The 6+ month wait is BRUTAL.

First time applying for SSHRC in my new PhD program (Linguistics); I previously was in a neuroscience PhD and my application did not even get out of my university (my scientific cv wasn't great at the time). Best of luck to everyone!
