Hi, I got admitted to Fordham's IPED program as well and considering it. It's a toss up between that or Syracuse's MA IR program.
-
I haven't heard from WWS yet... hmmm... not a good sign
-
It seems that a lot of schools are sending out decisions this Friday the 13th. Goodluck to us all!
-
Congrats! I have one acceptance and I knew about it reading my email in the office and I think my first words were "OH MY GOD!"
-
Where, geographically, do you want to work after graduation?
40404 replied to mpp2011's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I chose DC, NY and Europe. For Europe, I would love to live and work in Geneva. -
Gizmooow, No I cannot go since I am from the Philippines and yes, the intl flight is indeed very costly. Hopefully, whoever gets to go to the Accepted Students Weekend/Open House will share their experiences here so at least we can get a feel of the whole place. I hope schools finish deciding soon and send out acceptances just so everyone gets to breathe a little better. same goes with funding decisions...
-
Thanks Gizmoow. Its my first acceptance so I was indeed very excited.
-
Hey I was just notified that I'm admitted to the MA-IR program. Anyone else here doing IR? I am afraid I cannot go to the Open House since I'm in Manila. I hope you share your Open House experiences with us!

Hey all, I just received an email from Ms. Gray telling me I am admitted to the program! Yipeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! She said she wished she could have called. Anyway, I am waiting for the thought to sink in... hahaha!
-
Hey did Janis Gray call you? She's indeed the sweetest (based from the email correspondences I had w/ her). Very welcoming too and I have the same feeling since I am outside of the US as well and the impression I get from the correspondences highly impact my liking for specific programs and schools. I have never had a White Christmas much less seen snow since I come from a very tropical country. I am a beach bum as well so I have yet to see if winter sports will suit me. I hope I hear from them soon.

same here...Princeton is my dream school
-
I received an email from one of the schools I applied to with the title "An Invitation"...blood rushed to my face as I opened the email (based from the timeline, I should be expecting results last week)...turns out it was an invitation to all applicants to join their seminar/forum last Saturday. Argh! I hate spam email.
-
I emailed two of the four schools I applied to since one of them has started sending decisions while the other one said to expect results within two-three weeks of submission and the third week is over.... Waiting... Waiting..... Waiting...... I am trying to stay sane and think positive!
-
Hey Gizmoow and Happyhulalola! Is Syracuse your first choice? How does it rank in your choices (assuming you get accepted to all schools you applied for)?
-
I haven't been to the US... but from what I've read in gradcafe, it seems to be a really cold place. Its a great program but I am not sure if I could handle the extreme weather since I come from a tropical country.
-
Oooohh...I have yet to hear from them...

My dad is an MD, my mom has a bachelors. They are both supportive but I think they don't realize how tough it is to get admission to graduate schools. They always say, "for sure you'll get in". Now, I hope I don't prove them wrong.

Same here! I actually planned a couple of trips to the beach, one in March (since my birthday is coming up!) and one in April. These kept me busy for a while since I had to book the flights (for me and my friends) and the hotels, set the budget and fix the itineary. I listen to audio books, just so I have other thoughts aside from waiting in vain. I get a massage one a week - a relaxed mind and body (at least for a few days!)

Admissions Interview_ HELPPPPPP! PLEASE
40404 replied to salman33's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I haven't had a phone interview but they might ask you where else you're applying and if you're already accepted to some programs. Maybe they will also clarify/ask about some areas of your SOP... -
Hi Definitely Maybe, I emailed their admissions office and I am not sure if the same admissions people decide for MPA as in the IR program but the admissions officer for the IR program said that they received a record number of apps this year. Likewise, one of the people in the admissions committee was out of town last week, thus, delaying the process a bit. She said to email her again if I don't hear from her by end of this week. Hope we all get lucky!

I think you should explain it but in the context of the death in the family causing the burnout especially since this happened during your senior year. I think admissions value the latter years compared to the first year of college. Consistency is also a factor. My two cents worth.

Anyone here know more about Syracuse's MA-IR Program?

Do you judge a school based on your admissions experience?
40404 replied to orangepotato's topic in Decisions, Decisions
One of the schools I am applying to have the nicest admissions staff I have encountered. The type who answers your questions in detail and not just giving you the standard yes or no without much explanation. That makes the school more welcoming I think since I am an international student and I do not have the chance to visit these schools prior to enrollment then its a big deal to me. -
Bad for mine as well! I've been getting hyperacidic these past few weeks. The programs I've applied to do not notify until 2nd-3rd wk of March!

Anyone heard of the Geneva School of Diplomacy & IR?
40404 replied to 40404's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I'm actually torn between schools in Geneva and NYC, two of the three places I believe are capitals of IR (the third would be DC). It will be cheaper to take the one year program at Geneva but there are very limited funding and no student loans available plus the fact that I don't know anyone from that area. Nonetheless, the place looks beautiful. By the way they have an English website...
