  1. Hope everyone had a great weekend ! I just submitted my MIPP application for the early round notification about an hour ago. However, 2 of 3 of my recommendations are in and the 3rd one will be submitted by this week. I wish everyone the best of luck.
  2. Hi Everyone !! I am actually applying for the MIPP programs at GW Elliott and Hopkins SAIS. I am applying for early admissions for both programs. I already have a MPA and about 13 years experience in the DC area. I am so glad I do not have to take the GRE as part of the admin process. I wish everyone luck !!
  3. When are you taking the GRE ?
  4. If you input SAIS into the search engine - folks accepted into SAIS usually leave a comment on their GRE scores and sometimes tell how much in scholarship and fellowship funds they were offered based upon their GRE scores. https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/
  5. @kjasmin310 Are you applying to the regular MA program ?
  6. Go for it !! I am somewhat in a similar boat. I have a MPA for Syracuse, and I have about 14 years experience. I applying to Mid Career MIPP programs (one year) in the DC region though.
  7. https://saisdcadmissions.blogspot.com/2017/10/2018-admissions-guideline-why-you.html 1. Anyone who gets accepted in the (Master of Arts) early notification pool receives some tuition fellowship What that means: It means, if you apply directly to Johns Hopkins SAIS DC Master of Arts (MA), you automatically get some type of fellowship (or scholarship) added to your tuition just for being accepted into the early notification pool for the Master of Arts (MA) application.
  8. Good luck to you too. I have everything written and ready to go. Just waiting on my recommendations in which both recommenders said they would finish by early Oct.
  9. Anyone here applying for any of the SAIS programs (MIPP, MAGP, MIEF, MAs, etc.) for the early application round? The application is due by November 1, 2018 for this round. I am applying for the MIPP program, and I am hoping to turn in my application by mid-October.
  10. So did you go to SAIS or GW ?
  11. Anyone here do a graduate certificate at SAIS ? Is so, which one did you do and you think it was worth it (pros vs. cons)? Thanks.
  12. Did any of you get into the Cybercorps program for this fall? I am applying through the GW Elliott MIPP program and concentrate on cyber security area. I just started doing cyber / IT in the DOD world.
  13. I know they just started this program … Is there anyone here who is starting the MIPP Online Program this Fall ?
  14. Hi there - Did you end up applying to the school there? It is possible if you come in with two 2 classes (as a non-degree seeking student) and then take 6 courses over the next year for the MIPP. Then do the following: Spring (2), Summer (2), and Fall (2). I am working on executing this plan if possible. Worst case scenario, I don't get in and end up doing the certificate program.
  15. LibbyCreek - Did you end up accepting the MIPP program for 2018? Also, did you take the GMAT/GRE ?
  16. Hi there - I am in the same boat. However, I am applying for their MIPP program for Spring or Fall 2019. Has anyone heard if they provide funding, scholarship, or fellowships for MIPPs? About me: MPA form Syracuse University in 2010; About 14 years of work experience (5 years of politics / administration, 9 years of IR / defense / national security)
  17. maripsv - So what is the outcome ...Did you end up going to SAIS Bologna and find some additional funds?
  18. This is what I meant: POC = Point of Contact
  19. It is mentioned on the SAIS website and a flier/brochure that was provided to me. In addition, one of the individuals from the Executive Education Recruitment / Outreach Office told me I had to finish my MIPP in 2 semesters (no exceptions). Do you have POC who I can reach out to in the Admin Office? Feel free to private message me. Thanks.
  20. Good Evening Forum Folks - I am applying for both the GW Elliott MIPP and JHU SAIS MIPP programs (Mid Career) for either Spring 2019 or Fall 2019. Has anyone on this forum applied to both programs and/or attended one of the programs. Which one would your consider over the other? I would really like to do the SAIS program but it does not offer part-time study like the GW Elliott program does. I am looking at doing a combination of Cyber Security and U.S. Foreign Policy. About me: MPA, Syracuse; About 14 years of work experience (5 years of politics, 9 years of IR / defense / national security)
  21. I am not sure what direction you took, but I would have done the University of London route. Which degree option did you take thought? As far as SAIS looking at your online degree as part of the application, I am not sure. I would try and ask a former / current student about that question.
  22. Okay I hear back from SAIS this week, and I am in !!
  23. Has anyone here even taken a class or two part-time (non-degree) at SAIS? Was your application turnaround pretty quick...such as a week or two before hearing back from them? I recently applied, and I hope to hear back from them soon. I currently have a Masters, but I hope to apply for the MIPP in the future.
  24. I know the rankings really don't mean anything. But I was just curious if anyone knows when the new rankings of the public affairs programs will be coming out? Thanks.
  25. I was in the same shoes you are currently in a while back. I graduated in December of 2003 with a BS in Agricultural Development from Texas A&M University. My undergraduate grades were terrible, plus I was really involved in a ton of outside activities. However, I took the GMAT/GRE back in 2005, and said to myself, "I got 5 years to get my MBA/MPA/MPP, while my test scores are still good." Plus, I knew that the more work experience I had, the more my grades and GRE/GMAT did not matter...BUT ONLY THE WORK EXPERIENCE. So I ended up working on a few political races and worked in the Federal government for about 4 years. In the end, I had about 5 years of work experience. Also, I ended up taking a few graduate courses outside my work to prove to my future admissions committee (whoever that was going to be) that I was serious about getting my graduate degree. So I ended up applying and getting into the Syracuse MPA program. I just graduated this past July/August. So my advice to you (but you don't have to take it) is to study the GRE for about a year. Plus take the exam more than once if you want to improve your scores. (FYI - I took my GMAT twice.) While you study for your exam, you are getting a few more years of work experience, which is always a plus in front of the admissions committee's eyes. Also, in my opinion, going to graduate school is very serious now a days, since you get into debt unless you get some scholarship $$$. So my advice is to target the schools that you have identified as your dream schools and visit them. While there, talk with the recruitment and admissions officials in how you would improve your possible application vs. previous students' stats, all of who applied for that program. Usually their stats, they put on the graduate school website. Just wanting to get a graduate degree for the sake of it is not worth the debt, especially if you hate your job. I hated my Federal job for 4 years, but I knew that work experience is work experience, which admissions committee love to see. Okay thats my 2 cents. Please free to PM me if you got more questions. Thanks.
