  1. If you get into Bowling Green will you try and spend a year at SACI in Florence? I spent a year at SACI and it was AWESOME and since I was there in 06 the grad program there has really grown... plus Florence is one of the most beautiful cites in the world, and fun too. I was really thinking of applying got bowling green just b/c of its association with SACI, bc it was such a good experience. Well, good luck!!!!!

  5. unfotunately the issues with funding and budget cuts are quite serious in almost every state and it will, for many schools, diminish the amount of money they have availible to students, facilities and faculty. I do think it is something to consider when choosing a school... how deep are the cuts and how with that impact your ability to work with quality faculty and recieve TA positions. The more monetary allocation a school recieves the better... typically reputation and prestige help to protect some of the funds, but in this economy I can imagine everyone will be hit! Private schools may see less of am impact but also tuition may increase??????? It would be our luck that the time we are ready for grad school is the time that schools are in trouble...... UUUGGGHHHHHH
  6. I am going to Penn in the fall for my MFA and I have a 3 year old son. I need to be really close to campus and in a safe area. I will be touring apartments during the week of April the 4th. Any advice or suggestions would be helpful before I get there! I have never been to Philly....

well working with faculty whos work I am attracted too and that I feel like I would be intrigued to work with/around was very important to me and I have been interested in Terry adkins work for some time now. That is what initially drew me to the program, but I also really loved the diversity of the graduate student work as well as the faculty's. It was so important tthat I find an interdisciplinary program that encouraged a commutnity of peers to dialogue with across media and a program that promoted cross-diciplinary work. I also love the location being close to NY and close to many major cities on the east coast. I am interested in being able to take classes outside of the fine arts program... really there were a number of factors that made it a top choice for me.... the theory I have been working on for the last 5 months relates to social issues and that is another pull...

they told me it was their most competative year they have had in a long time and that they accepted 20 students for this class so he said there would eb 36-40 total both years. I asked about estimated funding ooptions and they said merit scholarships and then pretty much every student gets a TA for the first year that pays up to 2000 a semester. then he said you could petition ot teach your own class the 2nd year and that can pay up to 6000 a semester. Plus they have a progrma when they work with an art academy and that can pay up to 3000 a semester. Then he added in about financial aid...uuughghhh!! Ill be curious to find out about funding on the 14th!!! I am almost 100%certain I will go to Penn, b/c it has abeena top choice all along and it feels liek it would be a good fit for me and my work. I will be at the open house on April the 4th and my name is Laine Godsey. I hope a couple of us end up there!!!!!
  11. ok how do I go about trying to negotiate for better funding with my top choice "Penn". I have been accepted to 3 other schools and do not have FINAL word on funding from everyone but I wanted ot start thinking aboiut how this is done. I know people do it all the time so who do I talk to at the school? What do I try and bargain for?????? any advice???
  12. Look at the forum post: "Want to know your schools acceptance rate?" gives you an idea about those stats.. kind of
  13. not sure if anyone else applied here but I was accepted to Montclair today via email no word on funding yet...
  14. OOHHHH anyone hear from Colorado @ Boulder yet????????????????????? sculpture???????????????????????
  15. hey everyone!! Looks like this year most people are having luck at being accepted to great schools!!!! I dont know if anyone else applied to Montclair this year but I just recieved an acceptance email that said funding info would come in the mail within the week. have a great day!!!!!
  16. WWWWHHHEEEEWWW!!!!!!!! Im SO SO SO Happy for you!!! I KNEW you would be accepted to the perfect place for you!!! your work is so awesome!!! CONGRATS!
  17. official rejection from Northwestern via email just now.. booo. Knew it was coming though, so no big deal. Penn is one of my top choices and so I'm just focusing on that!!!!
  18. Jessica Stockholder is my idol!!!!!!!!!!! She is AMAZING and the fact that they are building the program means they are committed and that they is huge room for growth and potential to get significant attention. I think that is something thta cant be overlooked... you have to consider what the advantages are to being in an up an coming program!! Good Luck
  19. well, I am assuming that we should hear from almost everyone in the next week or two.... with the exception of few schools... my Rutgers still says no decision so at this point I'm just hoping for a waitlist spot. I live in OK so it would take longer for it to get to me. I am hopeful tot hear from Montclair b/c I really have a good feeling about that program and that would make it a good choice for me between Penn and Montclair... maybe if I hear from University of colorado too. Anyone hear from Colorado yet???? sculpture????? Ok, well good luck this week to everyone!!!!
  20. oh you definitely need to call and update a phone number!!! Penn called and made notifications of acceptance today... several places have contacted people by phone!!! good Luck!!!
  21. well I think your work is really great... you will for sure get a bite... maybe they dont need to interview you again, they already know...
  22. I will wait and see what happens with everything, but i'm really excited b/c it was one of my top choices going in, so it seems very likely that is where I will end up... also for L333makes and savethewolves, I asked them about funding and hey said there are opportunities for everyone to have a TA and they have merit scholarships plus an association with a local art school that gives coordinator jobs to grad students and it pays really well apparently... looking forward to meeting you guys!!!! we need to message our names and a way to identify each other or plan a place to meet up...
  23. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got into Penn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I'm so so so so pumped !!!! I love that school and the professors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also I saw L333 got in too!!! I'll see you there in April!!!!
