  1. Can someone link me the rankings NRC for chemistry?
  2. Can someone link me the rankings NRC for chemistry?
  3. Is the 6 figure debt came from Bachelor's degree + Master's degree / a professional degree? A PhD is suppose to be a free degree.
  4. Will taking the paper-based GRE put you at a disadvantage due to writing your essays slower by hand rather than typing your essays in the computerized version?
  5. The math section is too easy and the verbal is too difficult.
  6. Good article.
  7. In this thread, people say that it is unethical to intentionally apply to a PhD program just to have the intention of dropping out with a free MS. But, let's say a student had good faith with good intentions did try to get a PhD, but dropped out with a free MS due to having difficulties completing the project, would most professors give this type of student a positive letter of recommendation to enter a PhD program at another university assuming the student can prove that he only dropped out due to lack of interest in the project even though he was an overall good researcher? I know every professor is different, but what is the general consensus on this?
  8. Is the new GRE computer adaptive at all?
  9. Two is normal in chemistry from what TAs are telling me.
  10. Studying old notes from your undergraduate classes are also helpful. What subject is this?
  11. I'm talking about the lower ranked schools. I assume so because some programs have like a 10% PhD graduation rate year after year.
  12. Don't you mean "hire"? Also would a PhD program try to weed out applicants in the admissions process if possible? If students dropping out is bad, then why don't they try to reject potential drop outs?
  13. Let's say if a PI had so much leftover funding that there are not enough PhD students in his or her research group and the PI needed more PhD students to be TAs, would they knowingly accept PhD students who have a high risk of dropping out with a MS?
  14. How would a PI know that a student would try to leave with a free MS?
  15. Not really. I just like to read textbooks in my free time on a wide range or disciplines. Also did you get my PM on inconsistencies in NRC rankings? Like how some programs have an average 4 year graduation rate yet 0% graduated in 6 years or fewer?
