I'm still holding out hope for hearing from Notre Dame soon (re: interviews). Work is gonna suck today though. We had new carpet in and apparently the office is a wreck. Hooray physical labor!

I think like someone said last night (goldie probably!), tippy top applicants will probably hear second week. This probably includes the Northwestern acceptances since that's what the results survey says. A majority of my schools (again, according the the survey) release decisions mid to late February, so that's why I say after the 15th. Your schools might be different. I really do believe in the accuracy of the board (for a general timeline). I know I will probably start getting (even more) antsy during the second week of February, but I won't be surprised if I still haven't heard anything.

Mid-February definitely. I would hope for earlier, but I expect it won't be until after the 15th realistically. Which is only one more pay period for me. (Well, two but I count this current one pretty much over).

Maybe they applied to U Mich at their little known campus in Ann Harbor.

Um, yeah. I would like to know what's up with that. I still harbor resentment about that...

I know. Let's hope it does indeed begin happening once it hits.

Ughhhh Northwestern. I would love love love to get in there, but honestly I applied because U Mich dashed my hopes and dreams. I saw that as my "reach"/dream school. After the announcement that they wouldn't be taking applications, I looked at Northwestern. Thinking about how soon their decisions will come makes me a bit queasy.

I always feel like someone is judging me when I'm shown as on this forum throughout the day. That's normally what makes me close the tab and do something else for a while.

We do! Which means 6 days a week of mail checking obsession if you expect a school to notify that way. It's horrid. I know.

I know it would have been useful to do so. When I went back to the school's websites to write my SOPs two POIs at different schools were listed as on leave for the next year (that weren't when I did my initial research). Luckily, however, both of those schools I had other options. I basically said something like, "I would like to work with professor x. I am also interested in the work in professor z even though he will be out of the country next year." Figured it couldn't hurt.

Don't worry I didn't communicate with them prior to applications. It worries me from time to time, but I try not to think about it. My application spoke pretty well to who I am.

Well, I'd like to think we could all just relax because it's the weekend, but it's possibly decisions could come any time. I hope for the most part we're all able to enjoy these two days!

Thanks for the reassurance... I googled the website and it's separate from the History one. So I'm guessing it's different. I just know that they notified interview at the same time two years ago (no, I haven't been obsessing over the results survey).

Does anybody know if the History dept and History and Philosophy of Science dept are different? Someone posted an interview and I want to not start freaking out/crying yet...

Agreed! I just want something, anything in order for time to speed up again.

Hahah, no. I'm a firm believer that doing something like predicting where I'll get in will jinx it.

I'd like to say I will get an interview and at least two acceptances today, but alas that's too much to ask for! Aside from the slightly higher chance of hearing about the interviews for Notre Dame today, I doubt much will come for me. Congrats to everyone who has heard good news in the past day!

So with the tricky email from Buffalo earlier, I just checked my app status and it finally says "Under Committee Review"! I know this means nothing in terms of hearing anything soon, but it means the ball is rolling up in the chilly north!

That really does suck. At least you're getting a refund, but man that money could have gone to another app!

I know! It was a joke more or less. I know that any calls I receive are wrong numbers (I think I have a very close number to a drug dealer...) or just campaign/misc calls. It's just my mind that wanders to better options. You know how it goes.

So I received a call from an unknown number a little bit ago, but I missed the call. Now I can only imagine it was someone at Notre Dame calling about the interviews.... that or a scam. Sigh. I have an over active imagination today.

In other news, I just had a mini-heart attack because SUNY Buffalo sent me an email... wanting me to network with other prospies on facebook... no... just admit me please.
